OK. I can wait. I look forward to it.

Thank you for looking into it and for your prompt reply.

I have two versions of the site: Production (non-FSE Theme) and Staging (FSE Theme)

    Production: https://www.everygoodgift.org/
    Staging: https://www.staging2.everygoodgift.org/

I am using the Menu Icons plugin from ThemeIsle on both of them to assign a “Home” icon to the Home page link on the Main Menu.

In Production, I am using the “conventional” menu that comes with the theme (not yours), and you can see the icon.

In Staging, I am using your menu hooked up to the Main Menu. For what it’s worth, I am using “inherit” for the Test Transform property.

Thank you very much. It worked perfectly.

Yes, it did. Great. And Thank you.

Thanks for your quick reply and help.

I got it to work by using this single line of custom CSS.

    .stk-f59b0b1 {z-index: 2;}

I assumed that this would only work for a single page. It ended up working for all the elements on the pages that I have tested so far, except one, an input text box in the middle of a form (https://www.staging2.everygoodgift.org/contact-us/). To see it, scroll down the page until it appears with the slide out menu up.

I don’t really understand why that single CSS line should work across the website. Could you explain it better to me? I understand z-order. I don’t understand why changing a single element on one page had such an “almost universal” effect.

The truth is, I would prefer not to think that I have to go find all the elements on all the pages that somehow bleed through.

I tried setting z-index to 9999 on the slide out menu background, thinking that might do it. Is that a possibility? If so, what is the CSS?

I have set it up in a test area for now, and I have set a lighter background color so it’s easier to see the elements that bleed through.

One thing I have discovered is that it’s not just links that bleed through. Some of the other elements do too.

    https://www.staging2.everygoodgift.org/

If you open the hamburger menu at the top of the page here, it looks pretty good, but if you scroll down the page with the slide-out menu still displayed, you will see elements of the underlying page bleed through.

    https://www.staging2.everygoodgift.org/who-we-serve/

This page has links at the top that bleed through immediately.

I don’t know if this is a new feature for the next release or an issue for this one.

When the slide out menu is visible, if there are links in the portion of the screen that is being covered, they show through. If there are no links, the slide out menu background seems to be completely opaque.

This is a problem. I am using a background color that is the same as the text of the links. That mostly covers them up.

It would be nice if you could a) make the slide out menu background completely opaque b) have a setting to make it opaque or to adjust percentages of transparency.

I now understand that ordinarily it is not available for block themes. Since I wanted it anyway, I installed a third-party plugin to recover the functionality.

Yeah. I figured that out, but thanks for the tip. I understood the whole responsiveness concept, but I had never written media queries myself.

Thank you very much for your quick reply. The CSS code worked very well on the full-screen desktop. As you said, I only had to fiddle with the margin values.

However, it is not in the least responsive, so it won’t work for me.

I will try pursuing the question of why the group block doesn’t seem to be working right.

That is truly puzzling. I tried creating a new post with nothing but a title and an empty group block. The Dimension settings there had a border section below Padding. However, when I created a new page, they did not.

Again, thank you for your help.

I have checked. And yes, I am using the latest version of Blockbase (v2.0.25) and of Gutenberg, and I was in the top-most group looking at properties.

But maybe this is relevant. I really couldn’t figure out how to create a new template, so I tried to do it on on the default template (I guess that’s what it was). It’s what I get to by choosing Appearance and then Editor on the opening sidebar.

In there I have a Header and Footer that I have customized extensively. It currently consists of (at the highest level) a Header, a Group that wraps around Post Content, and a Footer, all three of which contain other blocks. I Grouped them all and went into the highest Group, but my options were no different.

I don’t know how relevant any of this is except that I probably should be working in a template. I have tried to read up on that, but I haven’t found anything immediately helpful.

Thank you for your quick response.

It looked to me like the “trick” was to put everything (header, post content, and footer) inside a group and then to give that group a border of a certain color and thickness. It sounds simple enough.

    However, I had three problems.

First, you show in the screenshot that the group has a border section in its properties under Dimension. I don’t have that in the editor.

Second, I couldn’t get this group to fill out to the edges. There was always some space to the left and right of it.

Third, I would like to make the border on the sides wider than the top or bottom. I tried some other container-like blocks, but I didn’t get it to work.

The simpler thing, of course, would be to persuade the clients to like the way it is now.

I got it working thanks to your help. I had to change a setting related to minimizing javascript in the SiteGround Optimizer plugin from my web hosting company. In the end I didn’t have to leave it deactivated completely, so that’s good.

Thank you very much for your help.

I will allow my trial subscription to expire and go back to the free version. I can’t get into a subscription for my cash-poor non-profit. It’s too bad because you clearly have any excellent plug-in, and you are charging a very reasonable price.

I have a similar problem, but it’s also different. My four-slide Gutenslider block works fine in preview. Live, the first slide displays, but nothing moves. It’s frozen. The progress buttons don’t show, though the arrows do. I have tried both FireFox and Chrome. No difference. I have tried the free version and the trial Pro version. It’s a really nice tool. Any ideas?

I am using the BlockBase theme.

Here is my site. The slider is on the Home page of my test site:
