I’m in a similar position and I’m new to WordPress. Ive created a WP Multisite with the 2 Subdirectory site config (not subdomain) on a linux server on my network.
I can see from the WP dashboard, the URLS are as follows:
http://localhost/<website1>
http://localhost/<website2>
However, I can’t access either of these from a any local computer’s browser (getting a localhost error and the url showing: https://localhost/) on the same internal network using these URL’s or by trying to substitute the “localhost” with the IP address.
My goal is access both websites internally first and then externally via 2 external DNS pointers. I know this a common config, but I need some guidance, I think.
I read your post, but I don’t understand what you meant by “I ended up creating a virtual host”. I’m prepared to try and change URL’s but I don’t want to break anything just yet. Happy to learn how to do this.
Any help will be much appreciated.
