Dear Support Team,
Thank you for your suggestions. However, the issue persists and appears to be happening at a more fundamental level than a browser cache conflict.
Clarification of the error timing:
I am unable to reach the “Login to your PayPal account” stage. The error message “There was an issue retrieving a link to connect to PayPal” appears immediately (within seconds) after clicking the “Connect with PayPal Live” button. No popup or redirect to PayPal ever occurs.
Technical Context:
As mentioned, this site is hosted on Strato (Shared Hosting). It seems the server is blocking the outbound request to the GiveWP/PayPal connection handler (https://www.google.com/search?q=connect.givewp.com) or cannot verify the SSL handshake required to generate the dynamic connection link.
Database / Manual Entry Question:
I have already generated the Client ID and Secret Key manually within the PayPal Developer Portal. I have also tried inserting these directly into the wp_options table (using give_paypal_commerce_live_client_id and give_paypal_commerce_live_secret_key), but the admin interface still shows the “Connect” button and does not recognize the manual entries.
Is there a specific way to “force” the connected state via the database or a script?
If I have the credentials, I would prefer to bypass the automated onboarding flow entirely, as the Strato environment seems to be incompatible with the “Connect” button’s handshake.
Could you provide the exact option keys and values (including any status flags like give_paypal_commerce_connected) required to manually validate the connection in the database for version 4.14.5?
Thank you for your continued support.Best regards
