I submitted a support ticket to my host and got this reply to the issue of excluding query strings

The LiteSpeed Cache plugin offers the option to exclude specified query strings from caching. You can access this under ‘LiteSpeed Cache’ -> ‘Cache’ -> ‘Drop Query String’ in your WordPress dashboard. If you don’t want any query strings removed, you’ll just need to make sure this field is empty.

    Tech Support @ hosting.com

AI suggested I enter some wild card, generic-type lines to Litespeed’s “Do Not Exclude Query Strings entry box:. Are these lines appropriate?

    RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^(.)$
    RewriteRule (.).(css|js)$ $1.$2 [L]

From what Chatty Cathy has explained, it doesn’t sound like I’ll really need external CSS anyway. She says it’s important for a very large site with lots of repeating CSS, especially animations. I do small to medium sites with occasional animations.

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you. That works! I’ve been so discouraged, spending hours building a site, looks great, all but done, and then something suddenly stops working, like links in the main content going dead (This was on Greenshift.) And hours and hours of troubleshooting get nowhere. I’ve been wondering if I can even make a living at this anymore. After twenty years.

Why does it say an external stylesheet is better for performance? I thought I’d heard that inline is faster and that we should be moving towards that.

Any idea why, out of the clear blue sky, it suddenly decided to stop saving edits?

I had a dear friend named Ying, years ago. She was Thai. We were word processors at a law firm in LA.

What about a good tutorial on all the fine points of the Container block? I’m going to have to break down and grasp “Flex” and all that terminology. My new best friend, Chatty Cathy, over at ChatGPT is very helpful with things like that, though she does tend to go off on tangents.

    Thanks for your help!

    1. The “Swap template” pick does not appear. It showed up once and I tried to use it, but the Front Page template I’d created wasn’t there. I’ve never seen it again.
    2. The new page template I created does not appear either.
    3. The templates in the modal are not the same as the ones in Quick Edit.

It does seem there’s something buggy going on.

I have been using a child theme of 2025 I created at the outset all along. In the Site Editor a Front Page template name is the first choice displayed when ‘Add New Template’ is clicked. I had created that and styled it as needed. The ‘Home’ page was set in Reading as the home page. There is a “Page” tab, next to the “Block” tab in the (Gutenberg) Page Editor. That Page tab (attribute panel) for that page has a dropdown, but it does not show ‘front page’ template as an option, in fact, there is no other template listed in the dropdown at all. In the ‘Quick Edit,’ in the listing of all pages, it does show “Page No Title” in the Template dropdown, so I copy and pasted all my Front Page content to that template in Site Editor, and set it as the ruling template in Quick Edit. I was not referring to there being a default page in Settings > Reading.

I was wondering if the template I’ve written, Front Page, would be considered the default for the page designated as the Home Page? I just noticed on another new site I’m doing, on the same server, the template in the “Page” tab is listed as Front Page. I don’t believe I did anything for that to happen.

I’m trying to figure out why this works easily in one case, and in another case, it’s a pain. What I could be doing differently in one instance that’s bypassing the ‘automatic’ process that’s apparently in place if I don’t do whatever that thing is I’m doing sometimes that’s messing it up. This has happened before. Perhaps there is some way to revise the code that avoids this blunder, whatever it is.

Thanks so much for the help. It does load properly in Edge. The Ajax was on. I turned it off. Still not displaying in Chrome. (I’ve been clearing cache all along.) There was another setting on that page about using Ajax, I changed to ‘Page Reload.’ Still no form on the live side. Anything else I can try?

    Thanks for responding.

I’m still baffled how this screenshot Patrick posted above came about:

    https://monosnap.com/file/gtkpRQr3w4ekgsQBxthHl3cdydfBFG

That is our site and form.

I’m not using Elementor. I’m using Twenty Twenty Five default theme with Greenshift blocks. I have done all that preliminary troubleshooting, turning off all other plugins, changing themes. Made no difference.

How did you get that form to display? I haven’t been able to fix anything.

It’s working now. The host is Siteground. They have three forms of caching installed. Flushing one of them I hadn’t noticed before seemed to do the trick. No wonder I’ve been intermittently seeing the old version of the site all week. The ghost site.

Actually, it wasn’t the testimonial plugin causing the conflict. It was “Speed Contact Bar.” I couldn’t find any settings regarding arrows there, so it’s just deactivated for now.

Thanks! While I have you here, can I ask, if I buy the add-on that adds queries to sliders, can I use this slider for post carousels? I’m really trying to use Greenshift for as much as possible, so I don’t have so many plugins to contend with. It’s the best, with great potential. Spectra has a good post carousel, but I hate having more than one block plugin installed. It gets too confusing, easily gets snarled up.

I did try disabling the plugins one by one, but it had no effect on the problem. Simultaneously, there’s an issue with excessive resource usage when we’re editing the site. I have a list of tools from my host to use to track down the problem. Perhaps that will help this issue as well. Hope to have time this coming week to try again.

I finally got the Yabe font to show in the dropdown by going to FSE >Styles > Pencil Icon > Typography (right column) then selecting each option, Text, Links, Headings, Captions and Button for the Yabe font I wanted. Any other route I tried, the Yabe font did not appear in the Dropdown. Now, any of the templates shows the Yabe options. Apparently, I just needed to kick it in the tire this way to get it going. The Font Family was showing all along, lacking the Yabe fonts till now.

    Thanks.

On the second link to the amaryllis page, in that footer under the words “Learn More About the Artist” the flipping boxes, “Shop,” “Artist’s Profile,” “Color Play,” etc. don’t appear, just a big blank space. Sometimes when I leave that page open and come back, the boxes will finally have appeared. I’m guessing there’s some conflict with everything WooCommerce is doing, including a sync to our Etsy store.

I thought I’d replied to this. I do click those settings, but they do nothing, neither in the editor or live. I’m using 2023 default theme. I’ll provide logins if you’d like to see for yourself.
