In reply to: How do I remove the sidebar from blog page in Twenty Fourteen?Hi Esmi,
as I just suggested, he is having trouble with his Twenty Fourteen theme. That is this forum. He merely turned on Responsive to see a comparison of features, and got stuck.
Are you suggesting as the moderator here that someone must switch to a new thread on a new forum each and every time they test something that breaks there site?
So if he turned on the Yoast SEO plugin and it broke his twenty fourteen theme, you suggest he should then stop the thread mid-stream on this forum and move the whole dialogue to a fresh on on the Yoast SEO forum?
Please advise… you’re in charge here, just trying to understand your rules 😉

In reply to: How do I remove the sidebar from blog page in Twenty Fourteen?Hi Esmi,
12 minutes ago, John (the person needing help) posted in this thread that he tried to update to the latest release of the Responsive theme (by changing to Responsive theme FROM the twentyfourteen theme that he has been using during this whole thread). It was a NEW release.that is “the” release.
Also, “we” is myself and the others who work with me here at LabZip…we have worked with Emil Uzelac (the original author of Responsive, and now the person who runs the WP theme approval team). Whenever Cyberchimps releases a new version, we test it.
So, the “we” implies that our team has checked to see that the latest update of the Responsive theme is not broken and will not cause any issues that would prevent this person from reverting back to using their Twenty Fourteen theme, or testing what we have been discussing this whole time.
Hope this clarifies for you?

In reply to: How do I remove the sidebar from blog page in Twenty Fourteen?Hi John,
If you’re stuck with any theme, you can always go into your CPanel’s file manager (or use FTP) and delete the whole theme folder. You may wish to activate your default theme first such as twenty fourteen.Once you do, then you can re-add the parent theme for Responsive.
We’ve tested the latest release and don’t see anything that is buggy, it was a minor update in fact.
You won’t lose anything in the DB if you only delete the theme directly via the ftp or file manager.
Cheers!
spenceHi Robert,
the plugin error is gone, and now it seems as if you’ve got a new slideshow working fine in the sidebar, but the plugin is now throwing some other JS errors.I could help you more with the setup but that would require some access to your dashboard… the moderators here prefer that we don’t ask you for that. I believe it is allowed if you request it yourself.
You may consider trying another slideshow plugin that we find very useful for all our clients and students. It’s the Meteor Slides plugin. Here: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/meteor-slides/
You can install this quickly in place of the one you’re using and see if that gets the job done. Just use the template tag of:
<?php if ( function_exists( 'meteor_slideshow' ) ) { meteor_slideshow(); } ?>In your front page theme template, to replace what you have there now.
Feel free to ask for more help … I’m easy to find 😉
Cheers!

In reply to: [Thematic] logoutHi Jerry,
you can spell it out your site url phonetically here without the http and .com part so we can help you.like:
labzip dot com would work so we can look at your site…. or l a b z i p . c o m
either way, this is sounding a lot like a caching issue with the site or your local browser. When I see your site live I can check if I get similar results as you do, which will help to determine immediately if it’s the site or your browser.
Cheers!

spenceThe “special recent posts” plugin is crashing hard and breaking your site…. please remove it and delete all traces!
This is causing all other .js on the home page to fail, which is breaking your slideshow.
There is also a css file that is not being found, so you need to create a blank placeholder for it so browser doesn’t throw a 404:

In reply to: [Mountain Creek] child stylesheet not overridingIf your child is properly referencing the parent theme, then the style.css will always override the parent.
I suspect the following possibilities:
1) Your child theme style.css is not using the exact name of the parent in the template reference;
or2) Do you have a caching plugin installed such as QuickCache, SuperCache or W3TC?
They may be showing only the original parent, from before you activated the child.

In reply to: Messed up the CSS Code!? Vantage Premium ThemeHi Greg,
yes… you have “nuked” your style.css in the parent theme..for sure 😉No worries, same advice applies. If you want to follow step by step, you can do it directly. If you want some hands-on help, we can go further.
Step one – download the original premium theme again if you don’t have it handy.
Step two – copy the style.css file from the parent theme, and paste it to your vantage premium parent theme where the current style.css is locatedAlternatively:
Step one – open up the current (“nuked”) style.css in your parent theme, and go to: http://demo.siteorigin.com/vantage/wp-content/themes/vantage/style.css?ver=3.9.1 and copy and paste the content of this file to that style.css via ftp and text editor, and save.Either way, you’ll be back to up and running. I’ve tested it on your site, and though you’ve got other mods that are messing up the site a bit, that will put your parent back in order 😉
If you need a little hands-on “TLC”, I’m happy to get it done for you as well… no sweat.
Cheers!
