Thanks for posting this.
For performance reasons I would prefer to add the filter to the ignore list. If we add this filter it would only run once, instead of for every handle. It would require you to provide the full url to ignore. Will this work for you?

As for the files coming back, I have no idea. I would try disabling Ezoic and see if that helps. Does Ezoic have a clear cache option too?

Please check that the merge-minify-refresh folder has been files have been completely removed here: /wp-content/plugins/merge-minify-refresh

I would start by checking if the site is broken when your not logged in to WordPress. If so, then there must be another conflict.
Do you have other caching plugins installed that might be conflicting with MMR?

Thanks. It should also work without window but I added it to make it clearer that it is a global function.

Do you have other minification plugins installed or are using a caching layer to server your html?
It could be that safari is having trouble with some of the minified files. Can you try disabling merging or disable individual JS files to try and track it down?
