I ended up being able to resolve this issue myself last week. I am not a techy person but seeing that the ability of Imagely galleries having 50 pictures per page, and if the gallery has a bigger number of photos in it, causing it to have potentially 3-4 pages, this was not allowing me to move 1 photo from 1 page to another page to be able to keep them in alphabetical order. I ended up taking the 1 gallery and creating 3 other galleries (part 2, 3 and 4). Then I figured out how to move the photos into the respective gallery (within the 50 photo limit) so I could rearrange them into alpha order. So now there are 4 galleries, replacing 1 gallery so I have all the photos in alpha order. On the post itself, where I had initially put the coding in for the 1 gallery, I now have it as the 4 galleries, so line by line I have the first one, then part 2, part 3, part 4. It looks great with the exception that there is a slight gap at the end of each gallery so it isn’t continuous. But it did let me do what I had hoped to do. Since each gallery has about 33-35 photos in it, there is still room to add others, keeping it under 50 and keeping them in alpha order. It isn’t a perfect solution, but it accomplished what I wanted it to do. The person I have been working with (a real tech person) who was proposing we go entirely different route (including totally removing the plugin and putting in another which I feared would mess up all my galleries) was totally surprised that what I did was able to resolve my issue. I was pretty pleased with myself as well as this was totally out of my wheelhouse. I’ve never had this issue prior to it going from NextGen gallery to Imagely. I think the biggest problem was having to keep them in alpha order. I hope how I’ve written this explains what I did to make it work for me.
Today, I spent several hours, creating a new gallery, adding in the new pictures at 20 small size files at a time. It let me move a few to a different spot because a few were out of alpha order. All the photos were in alpha order. BUT, when I placed the coding [imagely id=”272″] the photos are so small, you can’t read/see them.
So then I switched back to the old style of coding I used to use (and many of my galleries still use this), and coded it as [nggallery id=272 template=caption) where I could see the pictures and the death dates of my classmates, the first 82 are in alpha order. BUT when you get to Melser, Gary, they all go randomly out of alpha order.
https://laurenajenkinshoffmeyer.com/laurena/remembering/ I have no idea why it is doing this. I’ve never had this issue before. I have been working with a person that is really familiar with WordPress and he can’t figure it out either. He had suggested I create an entirely new gallery, thinking the old gallery with the same photos had gotten corrupted.
I will give this a try. I’m assuming this is when you are in a specific gallery not just within Imagely where it might change all the previously created galleries. Or was this when you initially created a new gallery? I currently have 132 images in the gallery and was adding two more.
I have had a similar issue with photo sorting. I have an existing gallery. It has been fine (it is for remember our classmates that have passed). I tried to add 2 more images, using the same description format I’ve always used. I used to be easily able to use the click and drag to put them in alpha order. Now, when I go through the steps, it looks like they are in alpha order, but they don’t look like all the other photos (and they were scanned the same way), and it will only put them in the first positions in the gallery. I’m using the recent upgrade to 4.0.5 NextGen Gallery. I even worked with a person who knows a lot more about these plugins and how they work than I do and he thinks the plug in has an issue. The page I have the problem with is: https://laurenajenkinshoffmeyer.com/laurena/remembering/ Editing the post text at the beginning of that page has no issues. It is the gallery that won’t let me sort and I have it set to custom.
Brian, I would be curious to know how you got it working. Maybe I’m missing something with all the searching I’ve been doing about it.

In reply to: [Slider by Supsystic] Can delete images but not addIs there any other plugin that WordPress offers/recommends that would be similar to what the slider by Supsystic did?

In reply to: [Slider by Supsystic] Can delete images but not addIn addition, when I am within WordPress, and look under Wordfence Security plug in which the person who developed the site put in, there is a message that says, “the plugin Slider by Supsystic has been removed by ww.wp.xz.cn due to a critical issue found March 3, 2024 at 7:40am” It knows my website still has it installed, but maybe that is why it is not working properly. Odd that it will still work to delete an image. I just maintain my site with additions in sections, keeping things up to date, but as far as any coding or replacing different components, that would be beyond my knowledge.
thedrewseum, I just saw that there is a NextGen update from 3.54 to 3.55 which is supposed to correct some of the issues. Curious as to if you have installed this update with any issues? Ever since you told me that fix 3 days ago, and I did it, my site has been working perfectly. So I somewhat have the motto, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And if you did install it, did you have to push that images per page back to the default (which I think might have been 25). Thanks in advance for a response.
Incredible!!!!!! That worked. Thank you so much. This has relieved so much stress for me. I don’t know how you would have thought to do that. If anything, I would have thought increasing the number of images might have done it. But I am so appreciative!!!!!!

In reply to: problem with how photos show after WordPress updateThank you.
I generally use Firefox as my browser, but I’ve also tried it in Chrome, and it is not working in either.

In reply to: [Slider by Supsystic] Image OrderingI’ve checked a couple of times, including just now, and although it allows me to click and drag and save to a new position, it still does not hold the new position. All I can do at best, is add a new photo but it always puts it at the end. I’ve paid someone who is a web developer, familiar with this slider and WordPress and he can’t make it work either. It’s just not my website because it wasn’t working for him on his website either. Frustrating.

In reply to: [Slider by Supsystic] Image OrderingI followed up on my website a couple of times to see if there has been any fix so I can change the order of photos on my front page of my website. I have seen no change. I can still click on a photo, drag it to a new position, and see a message that the order has changed. I’ve made sure also to click save (even tried it without clicking it). But the photo reverts to the very last photo so no change is made. Any further ideas?

In reply to: [Slider by Supsystic] Image OrderingI’m experiencing similar issues, although I was warned in a short tutorial my web developer did for me, about there being 2 delete buttons. One is at the top of the images (which is used to delete an image), the other on the upper right which deletes the entire slider.
I had a website developer recently install Slider by Supsystic on my website. He put it there to replace a plugin that was being used on my home page that no longer worked when WordPress upgraded me to 5.9.3. Although I noted on the details of Slider by Supsystic not being tested beyond 5.8.4, it seemed to be working fine. That is, until I tried to rearrange the images. Every time I added a new image and moved it to any other position but the last position, and saved the change, I received a message that it took. But when I would look at the preview and look at my website, that image was back at the very last position. The website developer also tested it and said he found the same thing. I’ve noticed others saying they have had this issue with the plugin and image rearranging. The process I used, was to put a check in the box next to the image, click and drag it to the position I wanted, then click save at the upper right.
I like the ease of use of this slider since I’m not familiar with coding, etc. (which is why I hired the web developer to solve my home page issue), but it would be fantastic is the click and drag feature worked.
Thanks for any suggestions you can provide to make it work correctly.

In reply to: [Easy Table of Contents] Easy Table of Contents not workingYes, at the bottom of my website, there is a white envelope which connects you to my email. If you’d rather by phone, you can send the email and then I’ll give you the phone. Hate to just put it on the post. Thanks.

In reply to: [Easy Table of Contents] Easy Table of Contents not workingSorry, no, that is the coding that I used to have to add when the Bainternet was still active, which is no longer and was replaced by ezTOC.
