I have tried, it doesn’t format properly and only displays one paragraph.
I have another suggestion. How about having an additional field on the new post creation page where you can list the footnotes and then reference them in the text with a tag that numbers them in the order in which they appear in the list?
If that doesn’t make sense I will try and explain better.

Thank you so much for fixing it so quickly! This is a wonderful plug in and just the thing I have been looking for some of the content on my site.
BTW – can you add something in the next update that allows you to adjust the width of the Mouse-over box. At present it stretches to the edge of the browser, would be nice to be able to set the width from within the plug in.

Hi, I appear to be having the same issue. My footnotes starts at 12 and then I have two sets of the same footnotes appearing at the bottom of the page:
