Found someone making a comment that Nextgen had caused it – I have Nextgen galleries installed. Deactivated them – no difference. Deleted them totally – problem solved.

Well, I installed 1.9.13 and images upload fine – no problems. Did “reset defaults” button, then did the update. It DIDN’T WORK for me – the problem still exists – still it does show that 1.9.13 works on my problem sit. If only I could get 2.0.31 to work…
Thanks tebeeson for the info, however I cannot do it in this case as each installation was new, rather than an update. maybe I ought to install 1.9.13 and then follow the process…

I have tried deleting it and reinstalling it – no change.
There are no other plug ins installed
