I do have “Permission” to change the roles of members in the settings screen.
I understand – a person fulfils one role in each group. This is how the world works today. A person has a specific title – Owner, Manager, Executive.
I spend a lot of time pondering about how the world could work (ie; Web 3.0) by copying how Linux and Open Source were created and managed. I forgot that generally people only have a single role in this world.
There is a Management 3.0 presentation on my web site that suggests that any individual in an organisation can be a Director, Manager or Executive (Doer) depending on the tasks or content. It isn’t what most people do today (although development projects are more likely to work this way), but probably the future.
A GTM that offered this type of functionality would certainly offer groups a more dynamic way to organise.
Unfortunately, I am not in a position to sponsor such a project, but could make a contribution. How many days would it take to add this functionality.
I am trying to understand how GTM works. I hope you don’t mind a few questions to help me. I want to see if I can use this.
If there are 100 people in a group and one user creates a task, does that task appear on the “assignments” for all 100 users?
If there are 100 people in a group, are they all “Involved”? All my members aren’t listed on the involved page.
How does a member become involved? Is the only way for a member to become “involved” for them to create a task.
I didn’t realise this is the way GTM worked. I couldn’t get GTM working for quite a while and only recently started using it.
FEATURE REQUEST – MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES ALLOCATED FOR EACH PROJECT AND TASK
I would like to submit this is a feature request. I think a group would derive significant benefit from being able to assign different responsibilities to different people for different tasks and projects. In version 1.8.1, I could specify a responsibility to a member (owner, manager, doer) when creating a project or task.
In version 1.9, I can no longer assign a responsibility to a member (owner, manager, doer).
I need group members to perform different roles for different tasks and projects.
The Involved page does not allow me to set global or individual project or task roles. GTM’s best feature is no longer available to me in version 1.9.
Is there any risk in just deleting 1.9 and copying 1.8.1 back to the plugin directory? I need the ability to assign responsibility (owner, manager, doer) to each project and task. Reinstalling 1.8.1 is the quickest way for me to do this – I wanted to show someone this plugin tomorrow. Are there database changes that mean that I can’t go back to 1.8.1?
There are many members in the groups. All groups are affected.
Magic! Working … thanks for looking at my machine (and diagnosing the problem within 5 minutes and releasing another version within 2 days).
Please let me know if you want admin access again
Version 1.8 works for me. I can create a project and use plugin. It distort layout of lists by adding a grey background. See http://www.opennetworksinstitute.org – this only happens if the plugin is activated. The layout of the replies in each project is also distorted. Not sure if it GTM or my theme.
This is a great plugin. It is also my first time actually using it. I can now come up with some ideas ( as requested) for further development.
I have upgraded to 1.7.3. I no longer get the white page – I move to the GTM project page. However, the “Create project” button results in a white page ie; I can’t create a project.
I have asked the theme developer …
http://support.creativeworkz.co.uk/groups/dynamix-support/forum/topic/text-replace-plugin-not-working-plugin-developer-suggests-template/Thanks for your help on this … your plugin saves me so much time … and his theme is so functional and works with Buddypress/wordpress … I am keen to use both.
The plugin worked before … it may be the new theme … I’ll ask the them designer.
First, my web site is http://www.marcuscake.com . I am keen to use GTM in groups like http://www.marcuscake.com/community/groups/economic-development/ .
Second, it is likely to be CSS – when GTM starts working I will just format the offending text in a different way – it is a specific shortcode theme style that is affected – I’ll just use something else. The text affected is the Executive Summary on the home page.
I did what you suggested. It worked the second time. The database tables were created.
However, my original two problems from a few weeks ago are still present. First, I still get a white page after clicking on the “Projects and Tasks” GTM tab in the group menu. Second, lists < li > now have a gray background.
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [BP GTM System] [Plugin: BP GTM System] GTM Plugin not workingI also tried deleting the plugin (and files) and then I deleted the GTM database tables.
I reinstalled the plugin. I clicked on the GTM Project Mgmt tab and I still get a white screen and it distorts my home page (by making the background of bullet points gray).
In the admin screen: Unfortunately, there are no longer any default roles in GTM and it “Some error occurred while creating a default role” when I try to create them.
I’ll wait for version 1.8.
