Hi @jeroen1972,
Thanks for following up.
Are you using the latest version of your theme? It is possible that this is known issue with the theme which might have been updated in the meantime.
We’ve noticed that version 4.9 was released in Jul 2015, meaning it’s highly outdated. It’s likely that newer versions have already addressed this issue.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi @karenvisser200,
Please send us 2 screenshots that show:
- The content area/box where you are writing your text
- The Yoast SEO Premium meta box, with the Readability tab open
This will help us better understand what might be causing the issue and provide you with a solution.
We are looking forward to your reply.
Hi @betagoo,
The meta description cannot have new lines. This is why they automatically get removed when you copy-paste them into the snippet editor. They do not get replaced automatically with spaces.
If you need to copy-paste all of your meta descriptions from a specific file, you could use a text editor to bulk search & replace the new line with space using a REGEX syntax. A tool such as Notepad++ could do the trick, but we couldn’t provide you with further instructions.
We hope to have cleared things up for you and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions.
Hi @yundian,
Thank you for getting back to us.
We have inspected the source of your page and noticed that you are also using Premium SEO Pack. Can you confirm that the issue persists when this plugin is deactivated? It is possible that it might replace the title generated by Yoast SEO.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
@kevs23 the old slug should not remain in the sitemap. If you are still able to find after you have changed the slug of a post/page/taxonomy, it is possible that your XML sitemap is being cached.
If you are using any caching plugins/solutions, please make sure to exclude the sitemap from being cached.
Thanks for letting us know. I’ll mark this as resolved now. Should you encounter any other issues, please create a new topic.
Hi @beniellis,
Can you try check for conflicts?
It would be helpful for us to determine which other plugin is causing the conflict. In addition, can you confirm that you are using the latest versions of WordPress (4.9.8) and Yoast SEO (8.2)?
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi @insideril,
This is a known issue with Yoast SEO, the XML sitemap does not work with the plain permalink structure at the moment.
The websites which you might have seen using Yoast SEO and the plain permalink structure may be using a different plugin/solution to create the sitemaps. You can disable the XML Sitemaps generated by Yoast SEO from SEO → General → Features → XML Sitemaps and use a different plugin for sitemaps only, which works with the permalink structure.
We hope to have cleared things up for you and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions.
Hi @seanmassa,
Thanks for letting us know, we were able to confirm this is a bug and submitted this issue to our development team. You can follow its progress here.
Unfortunately, we do not have any workarounds to suggest in the meantime. You might be able to achieve the intended result using a different plugin to remove the category prefix.
Hi @glamourdaze,
Whether you should link or not to your images is more about user experience than it is about SEO. In general, unless there is a good reason for why would someone want to see the full-sized image, then you should not link to the images.
For example, when reading an article, if one accidentally clicks on the image then a new page will load and the reader might be bothered by this. This is a bigger problem on mobile devices.
That being said, if being able to (easily) see the full-sized images is important to your readers, then linking to your images would make sense. If it does not provide a good user experience, then you may want to stop linking to your images.
Hi @sanos1,
Please note that the slug shown in the snippet editor serves no purpose to the search engines, it is only meant to give you an accurate representation of how your URLs will look in the SERPs.
There is a known bug where the snippet editor does not always reflect the permalink structure. However, please note that this is just a visual bug (it does not affect your SEO data and settings in any way), all of the meta tags generated by Yoast SEO will reflect the permalink structure which you have chosen.
We hope to have cleared things up for you and please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions.
Nothing is happening. When you change the slug, the Old URL will lead to a “Page not found” message (404 HTTP status).
Hi Kamil,
We’ve just inspected your homepage and the og:image is set to
<meta property="og:image" content="https://thecamels.org/pl/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/the-camels-preview.jpg" />Does this match your expectations? If not, please send us a screenshot of where you have set the image for the homepage and which image you have chosen.
Hi Andy,
The best way to update in your case it through FTP, as in this guide.
Hi {%customer.firstName%},
Thank you for getting back to us.Unfortunately, we couldn’t say for sure why Yoast SEO isn’t able to generate the sitemap at /sitemap_index.xml
We do know that the sitemap is being generated correctly (check this URL), but something is preventing the plugin from generating it at the correct address.
Please also try setting these redirect rules and let us know if the issue persists.
In addition, also try going to Settings → Permalinks and click save changes without actually changing anything.
