@toddlerh if you have any premium versions of Aggregator, feel free to reach out via our website’s contact form too so we can investigate things further.
In the meantime, the fix is being tested thoroughly by our team to ensure that it works across as many WordPress and PHP versions as possible, for compatibility reasons.
@toddlerh our team is working on releasing an update this week to address this issue. It seems to have been caused by some changes to SimplePie in WordPress’ latest update and we’re currently testing a fix for it.
Although we recommend using v5.x, which is available here on the WordPress repo for free, we’re still supporting older versions (4.x) until the end of this year. It’s worth testing out the migration to v5 (ideally on a staging site first) in the coming weeks so as to ensure you continue receiving security updates and fixes in 2026.
We’ll update you here once the fix for the current issue is available.
Thanks for letting us know, @kleinerpirat, glad it’s working again!
Hi @toad78, is this related to the fatal error you reported in your other forum post? If so, the same solution will apply and the site crashing is likely due to the use of the out-dated Excerpts & Thumbnails add-on which was discontinued years ago.
Hi @toad78, this error is coming from a v4 premium add-on that was discontinued many years back, namely Excerpts & Thumbnails, as shown in the fatal error’s description. That add-on was replaced with the Templates add-on at that point, which is now part of the Basic Plan feature-set.
Once you update to the latest versions of WP RSS Aggregator’s free and premium features, such errors will not appear, so I recommend updating at your earliest convenience.
Hi @kleinerpirat, thank you for the screenshot and detailed report of your issue. This is typically resolved using one of the methods provided here: https://www.wprssaggregator.com/help/solutions-to-cron-issues/
Can you please try them out and let us know how it goes?
Thank you for the 5 stars, @baziyants!
Hi @wordmax, we’re actively working on fixing a few bugs that have come up in v5, as could be expected with any software and WordPress plugin. Version 5.0.0 went through months of rigorous testing as well as testing on live websites that have been running v4.x with hundreds of sources for a number of years, but as you can imagine with so many configuration options in the plugin, some things could be missed.
Our team is hard at work finding and fixing any issues that come up and we have the next patch update being released in the coming days. If you still encounter any of the issues you reported, please let us know and we’ll be happy to help you figure out what’s going on.
If you’re using the premium version of Aggregator, you can also reach out via our website for more direct assistance.
Hi @corradomella, can you please elaborate on this? WordPress has SimplePie built-in as a core library to parse atom and RSS feeds. We don’t require anyone to install any additional code from GitHub to use WP RSS Aggregator.
Hi @ibiza69, we’re working on introducing translations to Aggregator v5 in one of our next updates. For the time being, it’s not possible to integrate those words/phrases but it’s high on our priority list to release as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience while we work on this.
Thank you for the review, @davesadows!
I’m glad we could help, @indelg1! Hendra is away this week but if you could take a moment to post a quick review for us, I’m sure it would make his day once he’s back 🙂
Hi @franzgasser, we’re aware of these notices with PHP 8.x and Aggregator v4.x. We are working hard on an update that will be fully compatible with the latest versions of PHP, which is soon to be released.
If you encounter any issues with functionality between now and then, please let us know.
Hi @katia97, that’s strange, we’re not seeing this issue happening on any of our sites and we haven’t had any similar reports lately.
Does updating the plugin to the latest version on your other sites work fine?
You can download the previous version (1.6.10) from this page in the “Advanced Options” section if you want to check whether that has the same issue on this new site or not.
Hi @hamaguchi, are you still facing this issue?
