So after some further testing, nothing above version 2.4.1 works for me.
What changed so dramatically that forced this stop?

Hi Benjamin,
I don’t believe this is the problem as I am already on WordPress 4.6.1.
Curl is enabled and working ok, i built a test script and it works fine.
Earlier versions of the plugin don’t have this issue either so i feel this a bug in the the all-in-one calendar plugin itself.
I’ve noticed this in my apache error log:
PHP Warning: http_build_query(): Parameter 1 expected to be Array or Object. Incorrect value given in /var/www/html/wp/wp-includes/Requests/Transport/cURL.php on line 507, referer: http://10.x.x.x/wp/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=ai1ec_event&page=all-in-one-event-calendar-feeds
If i rollback to version 2.4.0, the imports work fine.
