It was one of the plugins. I contacted my host, and they deactivated the plugins and all the sudden the login worked again. I’ve deleted some that I wasn’t using and reactivated the others. The problem hasn’t reoccurred. Once I could login, I went to Settings>Permalinks and just saved the same setting. Everything seems to be fine now.
Even though this was not their fault, the folks over at Blue Host were phenomenal about helping me fix it. I can’t say enough good things about them.
I used the instructions listed here: http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Changing_The_Site_URL for editing functions.php. After making the changes that they recommended, I tried logging in again. When it didn’t work, I took the lines back out.
I got it!! Miracle of miracles.
I changed the name of the plugin folder by adding “-1”, then cleared the cache and closed out the browser.
Restarted Internet Explorer and typed in the address to the admin login and presto!
So…nevermind, but thank you.
