I’m sorry for the confusion but we do reset the number of visits each month based on the date you have subscribed, i.e you have signed-up on 23th of the month, the quota will reset on 23th of the next month.
Regarding the exceeding quota, we have the process detailed here https://docs.optimole.com/article/1008-what-happens-if-i-exceed-plan-limits
Also if the quota is exceeded and you want to wait until the month to reset, you can turn the plugin off until next month.
We try to make the process fair for anyone and build a sustainable product at the same time.

Thanks for your honest feedback! We are working right now to filter bots traffic in stats, hopefully, this will be released soon.
Regarding the pricing change, indeed we did increase our price to better reflect the upcoming changes that we want to bring to Optimole, better performance, caching and watermarking, cloud media library support and many others, and at the same time keep a sustainable business.

From your point of view, which is the ideal metric that would make you feel comfortable using Optimole?

If you don’t want a specific bot or user agent to access your site, you can block them using your firewall or hosting. As long as your site can not be accessed by the actors that you don’t want, the images won’t be displayed to them either.
I can’t imagine a use case when someone would like to display a site with images for some users and without images but with content to the rest of them.
We are actively working on improving this, so any feedback is welcome on how we can better tackle this.

If you don’t want specific bots to access your site you can block them from your hosting or firewall. As long as you don’t want to display your content, where the images are embedded, to your users, Optimole can’t show them either.
My point is that you don’t want to serve images to specific bots, why would you want to still show the page without the images to them?
Let me know if I’m wrong, we are actively working to improve this mechanism so every feedback is appreciated.
Just to remind, our stats are daily, i.e if you have two visits from the same user into two different days, they will be counted as 2. If you have two visits from the same user, on the same day, they will be counted as one.
