We still use this plugin for all of our active sites and we have not run into any issues, so we have not had a need to update it recently. However, as a company we have largely moved away from developing WordPress sites and we cannot maintain the plugins as much as we have in the past. As it stands, OSD SMS is able to be put on any public post type. Just be aware that this will remove wptexturize from your whole site. If you are not seeing the blog search widget, there is something else going on in your theme. Emailing a full post to all subscribers can be taxing on the server if you have many subscribers. In addition, the goal of a subscription email is to drive users back to your site.
