In reply to: Blue Host Throttling Killed My Site's Response TimeYes, it could be the plan. I had a shared plan like those highlighted in the links from WordPress to BlueHost. If BlueHost does have unthrottled plans suitable for script-based sites, then that class of hosting should be what WordPress points to. At least there should be some clue somewhere what people should buy.
The throttling was consistent, although when I was logged in to BlueHost their system would not show throttling on the 24-hour chart. When I logged out of the hosting administration, the graphs would record throttling again. See http://www.ozdachs.biz/nl/images/throttling-all.jpg for a graph of what I normally saw.
My slowest site was my own blog which was based on the free Atahualpa theme. I do not have all the bells and whistles turned on, and when I moved hosting to another provider the speed improved a lot. The site is http://www.san-francisco-website-design.com… although I hesitate to post the URL because I don’t want to tempt the spam police. (Spam police –> feel free to delete the URL if you think I’m trying something nefarious. I really just want to understand how BlueHost is recommended by this .org.)

In reply to: Bluehost and Cloudflare DNS issue (Error 1001)I had the same problem and decided to go directly to Cloudflare and not use the BlueHost addon. That way if the DNS was unavailable when the hosting service was also unavailable, Cloudflare’s caching could serve up saved content.
Plus, moving to Cloudflare lets me go to another hosting provider should I want to.
