That does sound like a very slow server. Have you tried giving your hosting provider a not-so-gentle nudge.
I would. But I am not paying for the service. A friend of mine is, and he graciously gave me a free account. I got the category and and tags pruning done. So, I’m good.

That does sound like it might be a mysql server issue. What error do you get?

However, it only lasts for a few seconds. I’m thinking that I’m just faster than my server. It might just take a few minutes for the commands to be processed. I am on shared hosting. So, this isn’t a surprise.
Nothing that would cause this. Greesemonkey, Fast Video Download, Scibefire, (which I never use…) TwitterFox, (Not using either..) WordPress helper.
