    Hi Michael,

    thanks for your quick response.

As I am not native English I am not sure if I understand properly what you mean, so I try to explain what I would like to know: I run a website about an island with beaches, places of interest, worth knowings and much more. For example there is one page about “xy-beach” (focus keyword “xy-beach”) and text with a keyword density of maybe 2,5 %. Then for example 25 beach pictures will be added within the text. As the pictures should also be found on Google they surely have “speaking” names (containing the focus keword), all have the focus keyword in the title (25 times exactly the same title). The 25 alt-texts are slightly different but also containing the focus keyword, the 25 captions are also slightly different but mostly contain the focus keyword too.
In addition each picture will be published in 3 different sizes, so which one will be shown depends on the device of the user. This means that there are not only 25 pictures (including title, alt-text and caption) but 3 x 25 = 75 pictures.
So surely now after adding them my keyword density is over 10 % even though for the text it is just about 2.5 %.
As far as I understand the alt-text and the titles do not affect the keyword density (and therefore it is no keyword-spamming) but the captions do – did I get this right?
This would actually mean that it is not possible to use captions with the focus-keyword (which is quite important to make picture rank in Google) as this will be judged as keyword-spamming – am I right?
Not funny as this means that (at least some important parts of) picture SEO is finally not possible if you use them in pages modified for the same focus keyword …
So finally my question is more about SEO as about the YOAST plugin: Does using the keyword in picture captions “destroy” the keyword density of the page so it can be judged as keyword-spamming?

Thanks again in advance for your help,
    PH

Hopefully I can still ask one question: Do the captions then affect the keyword-density?
This would mean that I have to change most of the captions to not overdo it …
    Thanks again for your help,
    PH

    Hi Marius,
I guess you are right that only the captions are counted but not the title or alt-texts.
So it’s not possible to deactivate counting them – bad luck. But maybe an idea for a later update as I guess many users have pictures on their pages using keywords 🙂
Anyway, as long as it is not keyword-spamming everything is fine. I just have to check the density before adding the pictures which is also okay.
    Thanks for your help,
    PH
