The connection issue is actually with the hosting provider of your site blocking access to the xmlrpc.php file in your wordpress site.
To fix the issue all you need to do is call your hosting provider and ask them to allow access to that file.
I understand your frustration, on our end we are working on a new update to circumvent this issue entirely by not using this file.
