It seems to be Okay now, but I’ll send GD an email just to be safe.

In reply to: Trying to install with GoDaddyThis could be a long shot, but are you using ftp:// or http:// to access the installation file? I was stuck for a whole day because I was typing the former, while it’s just http:// — not sure if this might help or not. I have two WordPress blogs on GoDaddy Economy Hosting (with PHP), so I knew it can be done;)

In reply to: New upload feature – problemIs there any way to get the photos uploaded via the uploader to not have a post ID that messes up the ordering of everything? I imported and then uploaded all of my photos, and my post IDs jumped from 408-730. If there’s a way around it, I’d like to clear the databases and start over.

In reply to: Re-Setting Post IDs.Nevermind, sorry. It assigns an ID to photos uploaded inside a post, and I uploaded 300+ plus photos after I imported. D’Oh!

In reply to: Problems importing Blogger into WordPress 2.0.1I cleared my databases and tried again, and it worked this time. I got someone to help me check, and it got all 400+ posts and 900 comments except for one, and that was easy enough to fix. I didn’t do anything differently, other than try at university with a better connection speed that my back-country DSL. Same browser (latest Firefox), too. I hope some other folks are finding that it works, too.

In reply to: Blogger Import Pictures?Blogger blocks images they host from appearing on other sites. They might show up for a second, but then they won’t any longer. D’oh!

In reply to: Problems importing Blogger into WordPress 2.0.1Still stumped. I imported another blog from Blogger just last week, with no problems at all. This week, the importer keeps stopping, skipping comments and deciding it wants to post dozens of posts twice. I’ve cleared the database a dozen times (so that my post IDs don’t start in the 70s or 90s).
Since I have to upload 347 images and do all the comments manually for 400+ posts, I wonder if I shouldn’t suck it up and do them all one by one and then just try to import the comments…
Now Blogger’s going to be down for one hour tonight, from 7-8 Pac. time.

In reply to: Problems importing Blogger into WordPress 2.0.1Still not working. I wonder if it’s Blogger’s constant problems for the last few days. I imported another Blogger blog to another WP blog last weekend, and it worked just fine. Blogger’s down now, as a matter of fact. Good reasons to be swithing my other blog to WP:)

In reply to: Pictures in Blogger to WPThey can be uploaded bulk, but I think they’ll have to be inserted one by one. I’m in the same boat myself this weekend, and planning on much coffee and not much sleep:)
The only tip I can share is to get your photos ready ahead of time. You can make folders by year and month. Go through your archives a month at a time, open each photo in a new tab in Firefox (or new windom in IE). Save them all, reformat them if you want, etc.
Sign into WordPress, and open the “edit this” link for each post of a given month, and then just start uploading the photos or inserting them from an FTP upload. I’m tired and blurry eyed, but I can’t think of another way.

In reply to: Problems importing Blogger into WordPress 2.0.1I’m having the same trouble importing one of blogs right now. I wonder if it has something to do with the multiple crashes Blogger has been having today. Reminds me of the greatness of one’s own server, with WP on it:)
