In reply to: Easy Upgrade Path from Old WP to Current WPYes, I understand that. What I’m suggesting is the WP team tackle this. Automate the process of making all those little upgrades to backup the old and then bring it up to the new version.
Saying you honestly don’t think it will happen isn’t helpful. I was simply giving feedback and making a suggestion.
Unwatched.

In reply to: Exporting Old WordPress 2.0Okay, my web host is finally backup from their extended crash. I am looking in WP 2.02 Dashboard. I do not see any meny “Tools”. Where should I find it?
Also I checked every single menu, again, for “Export” and do not find that. Where should I find “Export”?

In reply to: Exporting Old WordPress 2.0I don’t want to use the same database so upgrading is not necessary. I just want to export the data into something such as an XML file. Then I will create a completely fresh WP install on a completely fresh web server. I will look in Tools:Export. Thanks. Right now the host is down and has been for over >>20 hours. This is part of the reason I am moving to a new web server with a new host – I’m getting tired of the repeated down time. I figure that while I make this move it is a good time to bring this old blog up to the new WP software.

In reply to: Please support older browersThe attitude that we should just throw away the old for the latest bleeding edge is ecologically unsound and unsustainable. It is also lazy.

In reply to: Blockquote styleThank you. I tried that but it didn’t work. I finally found that adding the following fixed it:
blockquote {
padding: 0 3em;
font-style: normal;}
blockquote i {
font-style: italic;}Thanks for the tip on the padding. I hadn’t realize that inherited transparently. Works now. Thanks.

In reply to: parismma.com AdvWidgetI told them yes, before they mentioned the asked me to install a widget. Then I never heard from them again. They had promised to send payment via paypal but they did not. I assume they are hackers. I’m not about to install their code on my blog without being sure it is safe.

In reply to: Upgrade of PHP kills WPMy web host had upgraded to PHP 5.2.9 it turns out that is unstable and they recompiled Apache back to PHP 5.2.17 and now it works fine.
While it was not working the login also was failing.
Now all is swell.

In reply to: Can't log into dashboardI wasn’t hacked, rather WP and PHP are fighting.
I had WP 3.1.4 and PHP 5.2.17 running fine.
The upcoming WP 3.2 requires PHP 5.2.4 so I asked my web host to upgrade PHP to the latest which is 5.2.9.
Now I can’t get to my WP Admin page.
I’m using Safari so I tried FireFox and can’t even log in there.
Something’s wrong with WP.
Frankly, there should be more graceful backward compatibility.Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Are my plugins compatible with the latest WP?Got it. You don’t like the idea.
No need to get upset.
It was just a suggestion in the suggestion box for a way to present the already presented information in a useful location.
But since you don’t like the idea and I don’t want to ruffle your feathers I won’t mention it again.
Sorry for suggesting it and wasting your time.
