Doing an import again appears to have brought in all of the posts, pages, drafts and comments. Duplicates were noted and ignored. I’m having other problems but that’s a different issue and I think I know how to solve those. I’m bleeding on the razor’s edge. 🙂

    Thanks for the help!

Well, that makes it easy. I’ll reinstall. Thanks.

I’ve sent Glenn A. copies of files and perhaps he’ll be able to see what is happening.

Yes. I’m having this problem on one web site set up but not another. I’ve not yet figured out why.

The one that works was an installation of WP3.0b1 with MU then enabled. Later I upgraded it to WP3.0b2 manually. That one works.

The one that does not work I created on a different installation of WP3.0b2 from scratch using the same files I used to upgrade the one that works above.

I went through the same exact process of configuration very carefully – I had taken notes the first time. Two differences:

    1) The second non-working install is in a subdirectory /blog/ vs the first working install is in the main public_html directory.

    2) The first working install was done as WP3.0b1 and then upgraded whereas the 2nd non-working install was done as WP3.0b2 from scratch.

I can’t see anything else that I did differently.

I’ve found another problem with the exporter in 3.0b2. It is stripping my code from posts and modifying other code. Naughty. For example, I had:

    <center><img src="http://SugarMtnFarm.com/blog/uploaded_images2009/PinkPiggyPalace0064w.jpg" /><small><i>Foam Insulation Inside Forms</i></small></center>

On exporting WP changed my post to look like this:

    <img src="http://SugarMtnFarm.com/blog/uploaded_images2009/PinkPiggyPalace0064w.jpg" alt="" /><br />
    <em>Foam Insulation Inside Forms</em>

It stripped my HTML center and changed my i (italic) to em. I like i better. It also stripped my small tags. This does not give the same look to my pages. I want my pictures centered, my subtitles in smaller type and italicized. The export should not be stripping code.

    Another bug. 🙁

Perhaps a blank line between each of the links in the email would help with that. One more error prevention.

I’ll go back to that. Thanks for confirming.

    Works for me with WP3.0b1

On an additional note, what I’m doing is trying to move over my FTP Blogger/BlogSpot blog to WP3.0b1. I set my permalink to custom:

    /blog/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html

and shiver me timbers but it actually works! Bravo to WP.

Still, I do have the questions about the permissions above as I want to understand this… A deep, burning, desire. I’m missing some key bit of knowledge that makes this click.

I’ve been testing importing Blogger to WP3.0b1 this week and I’m pleased. Lots to learn but it seems remarkably stable. The problems I’ve had have been almost all on the Blogger side of things. I really wish that Google/Blogger/Blogspot had kept the FTP publishing going until July so that this transition would be easier. They’ve made a lot of money selling ads off my blog over the years so it isn’t even like it was a free blog spot… Reality.

Got it. I found that if I unchecked that box then it went to my PHP limit of 200MB. Thanks.

The Blogger import file is 12.9MB containing a bit over 1,400 posts and almost 7,000 comments. I ran it through the import and am examining it now to see if everything worked. It look okay so far.

I’m getting the same problem. When I go to:

    http://x.com/blog/x/wp-admin/

I get a very ugly plainish page. The 20-10 forest picture just shows up as a rectangle, not loading the actual photo. Looks like CSS is not loading. It gives the message:

    Not Found
Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help.

    Ideas?

    I went through this today.
Unfortunately not all my old blog’s comments got transfered across.
It looks like I lost about 10,000 or more comments. Hard to tell.
I think the problem may be with the migration tool on Blogger.
    I’m still working on this.

I can’t use the XML-WPXML translator because my blog is too large with 1408 posts. The translator simply does nothing. I tested it on a small blog and it does work. I have read that it has a 500 post limit – rather small.

I am getting this same problem.
My PHP is set to safe mode OFF.
PHP memory is set to 200MB.
After upload I loaded the read me, clicked through to the install, ran through that, had setup the database and use for MySQL, finished the process, setup ran, then all I got was a blank page. Loading by blog gave a blank page.
I’ve been through the whole thing again after deleting it all and get the same result.
    Ideas?
