  • @ak71 Can you tell me what the value of request_slowlog_timeout is in your PHP configuration? You might be able to see that from the output of phpinfo(), otherwise you’ll need to look at your server configuration. That option is usually defined in /etc/php5/fpm/pool.d/www.conf.

@aitpro Thanks so much for the 5-star review and for the feedback that you provided, which led to a better plugin for everyone! πŸ™‚

ingenious plugin. Does everything it says and more (if you pay that is). The free version will suit most people’s needs but if you want even more power, get the Pro version.

@tneveu Thanks so much for the great review! πŸ™‚

If I had to add any feature, it would be a way for visitors to flag an inappropriate comment or spam, and then to get notified by email.

That sounds like a nice feature. I’m not sure if it’s too far outside the scope of Comment Mail, but I did a few quick searches and couldn’t find anything like that. I’ll discuss the idea with my team and see if we can’t start working on something like that!

I did have to change the font size on forms as the drop-down menus to choose delivery methods was too big when viewed on Firefox (so you couldn’t see them clearly). Once I made that CSS change to the font size, it ran without a hitch.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll make a note to test the Comment Mail subscription form in Firefox again to see if there’s something we can do to tweak this for a better default.

@lsoid You’ll need to find a program that crawls your website, which should cause Comet Cache to cache each page. Usually you provide the crawler with an XML Sitemap that tells the program which URLs to visit.

The Pro version of Comet Cache includes an Auto-Cache Engine, which pre-caches the site for you by crawling pages defined in the XML Sitemap you provide (you can use a plugin like Google XML Sitemaps to easily generate an XML Sitemap for your site).

@hsz_36 Thank you so much for the thorough review and the 5 stars! πŸ™‚

Comet Cache works seamlessly with WooCommerce, Contact Form 7, WP OSM and Autoptimize. No need to manually purge your cache. Just great!

We work really hard to make sure Comet Cache is as compatible as possible with other WordPress plugins so I’m really happy that you’re finding the deep integration to be useful on your site.

I bought the commercial version of this plugin, too. Not because i needed the features […] but for supporting the coders and for the very fair lifetime licensing.

Thanks for the supportβ€”you’re helping make this plugin even better. πŸ™‚

@ak71 Do you have a site with a very large cache? Is your site very busy?

    Plugin Author Raam Dev

    (@raamdev)

@lsoid The Pro version has a feature called the Auto-Cache Engine that pre-caches the site for you.

Otherwise, any plugin that allows you to visit all of the pages on your site should be compatible with Comet Cache. If you find a plugin that can crawl all of the pages on your site (using, for example, an XML Sitemap), then Comet Cache should generate a cache file the first time the page is visited by the crawler.

can your program replace the standard WP comment/reply form to allow posting of pictures (without having to embed a url?

@fgaston No, sorry, Comment Mail is not designed to replace the commenting form itself in any way.

when I click on either manage my subscriptions or subscribe without commenting, I get a white page.

That’s due to a known bug in the Release Candidate; see the reported issues section here: https://github.com/websharks/comment-mail/issues/278

The issue has been fixed in the dev branch and the general availability release that goes out soon will have that issue fixed.

what is the impact of adding roles to Auto Subscribe the Following WP Roles? So if I add subscriber, every subscriber will be automatically subscribed to all posts?

All users who have one of the listed Roles will be auto-subscribed to all comments/replies for every new post automatically. So, if you added a new subscriber and then published a new post, the subscriber (and all other existing users with the subscriber role) would be automatically subscribed to any comments on that new post.

Comment Mail imported all my users & automatically subscribed them to every comment, which led to too many emails going out.

Where was it importing the users from? Comment Mail should only ever “auto-subscribe” users if 1) you have Auto-Subscribe enabled and 2) you specify a list of WordPress Roles to auto-subscribe.

Or are you referring to existing subscriptions being imported from the Subscribe to Comments Reloaded plugin?

I just want to make sure you’re not seeing a new bug that we haven’t seen.

Will my registered users be able to subscribe on a post by post basis without me importing them?

Yes, registered users can subscribe to comments on a post-by-post basis by either leaving a comment on the post and choosing a subscription options, or selecting the “Subscribe without commenting” link. I’m not sure what you mean by “without importing them”…

    (@raamdev)

@fgaston Yes, you’ll need to delete the current version before installing the RC, however you won’t lose any settings so long as Data Safeguards are enabled, which is the default (see Comment Mail β†’ Config. Options β†’ Data Safeguards).

    Raam Dev

    (@raamdev)

well 1st off I’m seeing this: “Comment Mail is disabled. Please visit the settings and enable the plugin.” and I can’t figure out why. The link doesn’t take me anywhere.

@webweaver64 I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble. The link in that Dashboard message should take you to the Comment Mail settings page where you can Enable Comment Mail inside the Enable/Disable menu panel (which should be the only panel open when you click that link).

Also all the drop down boxes feel overwhelming. It worked hence my 4 stars, however the one I ended up going with also worked and didn’t feel so overwhelming with what I had to fill out and make decisions on.

I can understand how the configuration could be overwhelming and I think introducing a wizard or some sort of walk-through that helps you configure the options would be a great addition to the plugin. I’ll talk to our team about exploring that for a future release.

Thank you very much for the helpful review and feedback! πŸ™‚

@fgaston If you could provide a few links to screenshots, that would be very helpful, yes.

We’re releasing a new version later this week (see the release candidate announcement) and it contains many bug fixes, so it’s possible that you’re seeing a bug and this new version will fix the issue.

    (@raamdev)

@evster @wynot Can you tell me which version of PHP you’re running? Also, would either of you be able to give me a copy of the output from phpinfo()? That would help me in tracking down what the issue may be here.
