OK, I figured it our. I found a .user.ini file in the WordPress root which referred to the specific Wordfence lines above. I made a backup of that file and then cleared the reference to Wordfence and retried.
I now have Dashboard access again!
In addition, when I load the front end, my browser still shows me as being logged in. Anytime I try to access the features of the backend, I get the error page.
I did delete the Wordfence directory. No change. I cannot access the login to the WordPress backend. Same white page with message shown above.
Yes, I can delete it – I did rename it so that it would not be accessed.
