    Thanks. I grabbed the links plugin. What gets me is how the core of WordPress should come with these shortcodes built into it. It’s like Confluence; you shouldn’t need 3rd party plugins to do such simple acts tied to core data.

    Thanks for the link though. Problem resolved.

    No recommendations?

    What I want is a system similar to the TenTonHammer one here: http://www.tentonhammer.com/reviews/anno-2070?page=2

    Where it rates individual categories and then summarizes at the end.

    Yah, the individual who was experiencing this problem simply reverted back to their Dreamweaver built site. It’s quite unfortunate that such problems exist with WordPress – one shouldn’t have to deal with multiple CSS systems interfering with a visual standard – would be nice if they address this in the future. No matter what we did, it simply never matched (Chrome and IE). I use WordPress for multiple sites and it looks fine, but I wasn’t trying to do the advanced formatting the individual I was working with was trying to achieve. My guess is it takes some pretty good internal finagling to refine and obtain 100% visual accuracy for more advanced layouts.

    esmi – thanks for your time – I definitely appreciate it!

    What’s odd is even using the TwentyTen theme results in the same problems. Are you talking about something I need to do beyond simply using the TwentyTen theme? (i.e. after I switch to TwentyTen do I need to change settings?)

    Actually I don’t think that’s the issue; the visual editor doesn’t represent the changes in the very same browser on the very same machine the adjustments are made.

    It’s almost as if a the VE uses one CSS and the page uses another.

    It simply doesn’t make sense (and revolves more around next lines, etc. than anything else – the VE shows it fine, but the save/review strips them all out, etc)

    Yah that’s definitely not it. Something is overriding it and causing the blockquotes to display with a line to the left and take up the full width of the posting/page.

    First, thanks for the responses. Oddly enough, I update the Style.CSS with any blockquote code and there is no visual difference at all. I’m using Arras theme, and it has no blockquote definition in it and only the defaults:

    /* Default Stylesheet */
    @import url(‘css/default.css’);

    /* User Override Stylesheet */
    @import url(‘css/user.css’);

    Putting the custom blockquote definition before or after doesn’t change the visuals at all. It’s somehow being overridden somewhere else; I just don’t know where…

    Well it’s a collection of all types, but definitely not children’s. I do not have a ton of custom media for each individual story, so the goal is to focus on the presentation of the stories and giving the reading a easy to use and access reader system with a core ‘categorization’ that allows easy browsing, etc.

    I would not want the reader to be limited to the standard width of the traditional WordPress page when they are actually reading a story. A plug-in that allows them to mark and track where they last left off would be pretty neat as well (if one exists).

    So I guess my needs is twofold; a good core theme I can use to present and categorize the stories, and a plugin which allows easy reading of source DOC or PDF files when they choose a story to read.
