Yes, whitelisting your IP does not protect you from getting the Math Question (and the associated errors). I whitelisted my IP on two websites and Protect locked me out of both of them. So, it’s probably best to keep Protect deactivated until the update.
Hey David,
Before I post the Log file, is it harmless? In other words, will it list my GDrive ID codes (or anything that might compromise the security of my GDrive)? I’d hate to throw it out there and have every hacker on the planet gain access to my backups on GDrive.
Best regards,
RicSorry David,
Pastebin says the log file is too big to post (for free users). Do you have an alternate location or even just an email address where I can send it?
Ric
Okay David,
Not sure how best to post images on this forum so I just made a special page on my website to show the screenshots–> https://baronair.com/screenshots/ .
Currently, GDrive says I have backups from March 16th to April 8th while UDP says I have backups from March 21st to April 8th.
Hope this helps,
RicHi David,
Sorry, I guess I didn’t clearly state the problem. It has nothing to do with other Google services or the size of my backups. The problem is that UpdraftPlus is NOT deleting my old backups.
For instance, a snapshot of my current backups are as follows: UpdraftPlus says I have 20 backups from March 19th to April 6th. When I select ‘Rescan Remote Storage,’ it still says I have 20 backups from March 19th to April 6th. Yet, GoogleDrive, on the web, currently has 24 full backups from March 16th to April 6th. UpdraftPlus is not actually deleting the GDrive backups that are older than 20 days–it just thinks it did. So, if I don’t continually go into GoogleDrive to manually delete the old backups, I will get the ‘out of memory’ error again before long.
Thanks,

In reply to: [Two Factor Authentication] Couple of issues stillPlease accept my apologies. I should’ve realized which plugin was buggy before I started posting. It’s just that the issue didn’t occur until right after I installed Two Factor. Also, I had been using BruteProtect/Protect for some time without a problem.
So basically, I started another thread on the Jetpack Forum Here -> https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/jetpack-protect-is-locking-me-out?replies=2#post-6733894. That way we’re not discussing issues that don’t relate to Two Factor Authentication.
Sorry edited because I keep posting the wrong link.

In reply to: [Two Factor Authentication] Couple of issues stillNevermind… The problem with Jetpack’s Protect happened even when Two-Factor Authentication was disabled. I guess my constant logging in and out kicked off the JetPack Protect’s Math Authentication algorithm. When I resaved my Permalinks, it cleared up the error message. So now the two-factor authentication plugin works great.

In reply to: [Two Factor Authentication] Couple of issues stillOkay… So I believe the problem is that the Two-Factor Authentication plugin conflicts with JetPack’s Protect module (which was BruteProtect). Without the Two-Factor Authentication plugin, the Protect module doesn’t give me a bit of problems. With the Two-Factor plugin activated, however, I’m allowed to logout and login once. The second time I logout and login, the login screen includes a math problem with a statement that asks ‘Prove your Humanity.’ When I solve the math problem correctly, I receive the following error: Fatal error: Class ‘Jetpack_Protect_Math_Authenticate’ not found in …/wpcontent/plugins/jetpack/modules/protect.php on line 221. I actually shouldn’t receive the Math Authentication question at all since I listed my IP on the Protect White Page. And, as I said, I don’t have to do the Math Authentication step when I deactivate the Two-Factor Authentication.
I hope this helps,

In reply to: [W3 Total Cache] Why W3 Total Cache is not available?I actually used GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress until recently. The fact is that it is ‘Managed.’ That means GoDaddy takes care of the important stuff like installing WordPress and the associated DataBase, site optimization, backups, and site security. They also don’t limit you on the amount of resources you use. That’s why they Blacklist certain plugins that will interfere with GoDaddy’s management of your WordPress site. For me, I thought it was a perfect solution because I’m too busy to worry about all of that stuff anyway.
Unfortunately, GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress comes with drawbacks:
1) It is shared. I read (though I can’t confirm) that GoDaddy sometimes runs 17,000 websites on one server. My experience was that my website’s ping time was about 2 seconds for the first 90 days. After 90 days, I was lucky if I saw ping times under 5 seconds. GoDaddy’s money back policy, coincidentally, runs out after 90 days. The lesson here is that neither W3 Total Cache nor any other plugin will help you if it takes 5 seconds for the server to even respond.
2) GoDaddy limits the number of visitors to your Managed WordPress site. So after you reach your limit (which is way too low for any type of ecommerce site), GoDaddy just shuts your site down until the end of the month. Granted they may not have actually shut my site down. It could be that the response time was so long that my browser timed out. Anyway, it was still unacceptable. When you call GoDaddy’s Tech Support, they try to sell you one of their high-end hosting packages.
3) GoDaddy disables the normal WordPress Cron Jobs. So, if you have a plugin that needs Cron in order to function, it won’t. Also, normal WordPress functions that rely on Cron Jobs (such as garbage collection), don’t work until GoDaddy allows it–which might be two weeks down the road.
4) GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress doesn’t work well with WooCommerce (the most popular ecommerce plugin for WordPress). For instance, when a customer wanted to remove an item from her shopping cart (on my website), it wouldn’t go away. As soon as she browsed back to the shop page, the shopping cart would show the item in the cart again. WooCommerce Tech Support told me I had to change hosting providers if I wanted to correct the error.
So, I changed providers. Now, I have no limits, I have Cron Jobs working, my webpage pings in about half a second (thanks to W3 Total Cache) and loads completely in about 2 seconds. And it cost about the same as GoDaddy’s Managed WordPress. The down side is that I have to manage it myself. That’s okay. I’ll accept it.

In reply to: [Products Per Page for WooCommerce] Problem with Shop Page as Home PageThanks Jeroen,
It looks as if the fix worked. Wish I could give you another 5-star rating.
Best regards,
Ric EsreyHi Jeroen,
I’ve been looking at different plugins that can do the filtering work. The problem, however, is that I want to stay away from sidebars. The trend of websites (and I know you wrote an article about this) is toward long, one-pagers. So I plan to redesign my t-shirt webstore for one-page. In order to do this, I want all of my page’s user functions placed horizontally, across the top of the webpage. If you look at my test website, http://air.ink, you’ll see that I’ve already implemented a secondary, horizontal navigation menu. But I’d also like to have a plugin that would give me a neat row of drop down boxes just below the horizontal navigation menus, so the user can choose the products per page, or filter by the category, the predominant color, etc. My ultimate goal would be for the header (the Logo, Nav Menu, and Drop Down Boxes) to remain in place while the user scrolled down the page looking at the shirts.
Actually, I was thinking you might consider building a premium version that would, additionally, allow webpages to have a dropdown for category and maybe even allow other filters, like color or size. In fact, I would love to have a plugin that would give me all of the dropdown options available on this–> Society6 webpage. I understand your reasons for not wanting to design this, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
Bueller?… Bueller?… Bueller?
Okay, I sent the log file 3 days ago…
