Thanks for your feedback and kind words.
That sounds like a neat feature improvement suggestion for the plugin.
I’ve raised that on our product tracker and hope to be able to add that in the next release.

In reply to: [Heroic Table of Contents] Hate Gutemberg why is there no workaround?Hi @imogen-bertin, thanks for the clarification.
Just to keep things tidy: the ww.wp.xz.cn support forums are specifically for support/issues with the Heroic Table of Contents plugin itself. Questions about configuring a full Knowledge Base index outside a paywall (and/or how other ToC plugins might work with Restrict Content Pro) is a bit outside the scope of this forum thread.
Since you’re a HeroThemes.com customer and we can help more effectively with the extra context, I’ll reach out to you privately via email to continue the conversation and make sure we point you to the best solution for your setup.
Thanks!
Richard

In reply to: [Heroic Table of Contents] Hate Gutemberg why is there no workaround?Hi @imogen-bertin,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback. I can certainly understand the frustration of working with a legacy site where you feel “locked in” to specific tools like Divi or the Classic Editor, especially when you’re trying to achieve a specific layout for your visitors.
To clarify the technical side, Heroic Table of Contents is built specifically as a Block-based plugin. It is designed to integrate deeply with the default WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg) to automatically detect headings and generate the table in real-time. Because of this architecture, the plugin does not support the Classic Editor, nor is it designed to function within third-party page builders like Divi that bypass the standard block system.
Since our plugin is focused on the native block experience, it sounds like it might not be the right fit for your current setup. If you need a solution that works via shortcodes or within the Classic/Divi environment, you might have better success with a plugin like Table of Contents Plus or Easy Table of Contents. These are well-regarded options that offer shortcode support and are often more compatible with non-block editors.
We appreciate you giving our plugin a try, and I hope you’re able to find a solution that works for you.
Thanks again and Kind Regards,
Richard
Thanks @fabeyg and @clifton11221 for flagging that.
We’ve rolled out an update – 2.0.1 that seeks to address these compatibility issues, please update and let me know if you encounter any further issues.
Closing as resolved for now, thanks again.
Hi @codebyrobin
The issue has already been fixed – some required files were missing from the plugin download stored by ww.wp.xz.cn. Please re-download or delete and reinstall – you should be good to go.
Hope that helps and let me know if you need any further assistance!
Thanks
Richard
