 * Many thanks for your reply. The issue seems to have resolved now without my doing
anything – must just have been a temporary problem in connecting to you tube.

 * Yes, many thanks great. A copy of the current plugin would be much appreciated.
Mon pm is a good time for a call.

 * Yes that narrows it down a bit. The problem is either in the 2FA part of the
combined plug in or (more likely I guess) it’s in the bit’s of the firewall that
have been changed in the four months since the stand-alone plug in was last updated.
My worry is that when the stand-alone plugin gets updated in the future the problem
will return. If you could keep me posted on any developments in getting to the
bottom of this, as depending on the situation I may or may not want to apply
   future updates.

 * I found a solution by installing your stand-alone firewall application (as I
didn’t really need the 2fa part of the bigger plugin anyway), and this worked
fine, so either its the 2fa part causing the problem, or the firewall part of
the larger plugin is not identical to the smaller one. I was a bit loathe to
use the stand-alone plugin as it has not been updated for some time and there
aren’t many active installations, but I did, and to my surprise this solved the
problem. If you do ever update the stand-alone firewall plugin, and i hope you
will, make sure you don’t just replace it with what you now have in the combined
plugin, because the latter still doesn’t work for me.

 * Any progress on this. I’ve since disabled all the other non-miniorange plugin
but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

 * I tried WP Touch but I didn’t like the theme. I wonder if there is a possibility
of getting access to that same theme as is available at wordpress.com.

 * I have a feeling the add-on I’m seeking used to be available on via the jet pack
plugin but has now been removed on the grounds that the main themes are now sufficiently
responsive that the alternative themes are no longer useful (obviously I don’t
agree with that thinking). If you’re aware of any alternative to jet pack that
I could use I’d be glad of the information.
 * My main gripe with the main twenty eleven theme is that the text size is slightly
too small and the line spacing slightly too wide on mobile compared to the mobile-
specific option at wordpress.com. But it’s not so bad that I want to spend any
substantial time editing CSS to put it right.
 * I have a clone of my self-hosted site as a free site on wordpress.com. I’ve not
even shared the latter publicly in the past as I’ve used it only as a developmental
environment to do things like trialling new themes etc. However, I’m now thinking
of sharing it purely because of this much more attractive mobile-specific theme
option not available on the self-hosted version – I may even consider ditching
the self-hosted version and just switching to wordpress.com if I can’t find a
   more conservative solution.

 * In the wordpress.com version there is another control in the mobile footer where
you can switch between the full site version (which gives the mobile version
of the mobile responsive main Twenty Twelve them) or the mobile version (which
gives a different theme, a mobile specific theme). This control only appears
at the front-end and only on mobile devices. It’s on the wordpress.com package
of Twenty Twelve but not on the WordPress.org. What I’m asking is how can I get
that alternative mobile-specific theme to be available as an add-on (in addition
to the main Twenty Twelve theme) on my WordPress.org package in the same way
   that it is at WordPress.com.

 * I tried WP Touch. It did offer a mobile-specific theme, but it’s not the theme
that is being offered by WordPress.com. It would be nice if I could find a plugin
that would provide the exact theme provided by WordPress.com as it was such a
   nice theme.

 * Certainly looks like this feature had gone from Jet Pack by the time I’d check,
although I’m not sure if that was the mobile-specific theme being deployed at
WordPress.com and/or whether it’s likely to be dropped from there too. I guess
this theme goes back to the days before WordPress themes were mobile responsive.
The WordPress theme I’m using now is mobile responsive, it’s just that I preferred
the mobile specific one and would like not only to hang on to it, but also to
use it on my self-hosted WordPress as well. I started a thread on the WordPress.
com forums to try to get some more info on this.

 * Yes I do have K2 installed currently. I’m trying to replace it precisely because
it is no longer supported. 2016 looks like a promising replacement that meets
most of my needs. But the version of 2016 available to me through my self-hosted
environment doesn’t display properly on mobiles (yes, it displays different but
is not really what I want). The version available on wordpress.com on the other
hand works differently as it has an extra functionality built in (Mobile under
Appearance) and gives a better result on mobiles (more than just squashed to
fit but actually arranged coherently as well). The latter would be fine but I
can’t really work on wordpress.com or at least it would not be my first choice.
