In reply to: phpMyAdmin – question about what to tickSaurus, I don’t understand what you are saying – there is a contradiction.
Backing_Up_Your_Database says “7. The DATA section . Leave the boxes inside this section unticked…….” while WordPress_Backups clearly tells you to “3. Check the “Complete inserts” box” The image that accompanies the text also has “Use hexidecimal…..” ticked as well.
Are you saying just do what it says in “backing up your database” and ignore the other?

In reply to: Cannot publish posts.Hi,
Well, I contacted 1&1 support and I was on the phone for about an hour, to their Philipines call centre. I’m in Manchester, England.
Firstly, they told me that I had used more than my allocated megabytes for my account. I deleted loads from MySQL and it still did not work.
Secondly, they concluded that they didn’t have a clue why it still did not work even though I deleted about 150 MB of stuff from my account. They recommended completely reinstalling everything as ‘WordPress was corrupted’.
All this happened last night, UK time. I decided to give it one more try a couple of hours ago before reinstalling everything and of course it all works fine, now! When you delete stuff off a MySQL database it must take a few hours to filter through but after 24 hours everything is fine.
Seems obvious now. Thanks for your help.

In reply to: Cannot publish posts.Hi Moshu. thanks for trying to help.
I’m not sure the privileges have changed as I have not altered anything. I have checked my account and all looks in order. My account is with 1&1 and they allow me to have multiple installations of wordpress on the same database. So, I went into another of my blogs, I then tried to post and got exactly the same error message, as listed above. This sounds like a problem with my host. What do you think?

In reply to: Making my page titles SE friendlyThanks,
Works fine with just
/index.php/%postname%/
and no modrewrite.
Thanks again for your help.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Making my page titles SE friendlyWow! thanks…….
Works fine now. I really appreciate your help.
One final quick question. Will WordPress attempt to pass the arguments if I changed it from
/index.php/archives/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/
to
/index.php/%postname%/
or will I have to get involved in the mod rewrite stuff if I change it like this?Forum: Installing WordPress

In reply to: install.php loads a blank page and nothing happensHi there,
I just got my site up and running 30minutes ago. I dont know if this would help you but I just typed in the site URL into my browser and there was a clickable link there called ‘install.php’. I clicked on it and it installed itself.

In reply to: install.php file displying in browser, not runningYehaaaaah! Thanks for your advice Moshu, its working!!!!!
I just got it working 15 minutes ago.
For some reason the ‘5 minute installation instructions’ supplied by WP didnt quite work.
{for others who have this problem – I started install.php by visiting my own URL, where there was clickable link and started the installation there}.
Now it is working great.
I appreciate your help.
