Great, thanks for giving it to the free users as well. I mark this topic as resolved.

As reading through the solutions Cory linked to, I see that the problem lies in Duplicator and the db multibyte collation, or not even in Duplicator, but also in MySQL version on the server. ET didn’t reply and I now don’t see any option which they should do on their side.

As long as Duplicator is not integrating the workaround into the free Version, we have to workaround the issue ourselves, so I hope Cory is considering to offer it to everyone. For me the PRO version is honestly to expensive since I use Duplicator only for moving sites once, and it doesn’t come with an unlimited time and -domain offer. Paying $49 once for being allowed using it for moving all my domains would be considerable for me. Anyhow it is possible to make a donation to honor his work, because what he gives with the free version is enormously great, and I hope the solution for the bug that apparently limits its usage in various cases and environments will be included as well for the free users.

From the Duplicator workarounds this one here seems the easiest:
    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/can-duplicator-handle-different-collation-methods-between-mysql-versions

But I wonder if cutting off multibyte collation will not generate other issues later on.

In the ET forums there was this plugin suggested, and if this one does the migration correct, then actually it can also be considered a workaround, I will try this week:
    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-migrate-db/

If anyone else found another easy workaround, or if there are news regarding Duplicator updates that solve it, please let us know.

    Great days

Thanks for fast reply and the link. So if the issue is not only in connection with the DIVI theme but also appears elsewhere and you found a solution for the PRO version, are you working also on fixing it generally throught your fabulous plugin, meaning can I hope to use Duplicator in the standard version one day again on all my sites without workarounds? That would be great. Thanks for the great work, have a nice weekend.

Wow, great, this is even the most perfect solution to handle it. Superb plugin.

Thanks for taking time to answer, that sounds great. Already 2 – 2.5x faster than WPML, this is really a bad result for WPML. I really hoped that they fixed their performance at least 2015, but I have to use them on some sites and they are felt slow.

How do you make your tests, with which tools/sites?

Can you please make a note to also post your blog post here so I get notified, would be lovely to hear about your results. So actually a “large project” you are migrating, that means that Polylang is fulfilling all your needs also in large sites? This is good to hear. For the moment I thought that at least on large scale WPML becomes a must.

I am using Contact Form DB and it is fabulous. I even had to work out a quite complicated submission form and the developer helped me very fast and reliable.

Just a note walking by 🙂

I wrote you a mail now, thanks for the offer.

Yes this sounds good and I will get back to it if we run into problems with strange submissions. I installed contact form 7 honeypot to at least keep bots away. And I came across Anti-Spam by Cleantalk today but didn’t try it. Do you have any suggestions from your own experience to keep forms clean without using Akismet (which is not allowed in germany due to data protection laws)?

Thanks. I will do whatever I can by myself and then come back to your offer. Maybe we renounce from our favorite solution, I am already quite far with a nice output. I will let you know the result but it might take some more time.

I was deleting the mail because i am not testing only the DB function and it gave me an error message of my CF7 after hitting SEND but the data was saved in the database.

By the way, it turned out to be even a nice trick to populate your DB quick with many entries, since with the error the entries stay in the fields, so I just changed some values and press SEND again. Was quite quick way to get some example entries.

The tricky thing is that the country and city should always be displayed just once, and only inside of a city the full DB entries of an event are displayed. I don’t know if IF would even be enough here to somehow check IF it is the first entry and only show it then.

But it is late already, and maybe tomorrow I get closer to a solution, or find an answer from you already showing possible directions.

To make it clearer, since the mere listing can simply be done with orderby, I would like to output a list like this:

    <h2>Great Britain</h2>
    <h3>London</h3>
    08:00 Event Description…
    10:00 Another event …

    <h2>Spain</h2>

So actually it is about a very customized output including HTML structure and for sure some loops.

It might be possible with an own custom shortcode. If it is possible but difficult, are you also accepting paid jobs like this?

Thank you Matt, maybe I should not have mentioned the theme, because the code I presented doesn’t work in any installation, also with the simple twenty twelve all these lines didn’t do what I thought they should do.

But other themes don’t mess with TinyMCE which was my solution so far.

This is why I search for a solution to solve otherwise. A solution that stops removing p and br, so they don’t get lost when switching from visual to html editor, and is also not adding anything, which most probably is the reason for the theme to add things as well.

Just the pieces of code as the above mentioned, but they didnt work for me, in no theme.

I mean what are these lines doing in your installation? Are they working? If you remove the filter autop for example, are p and br preserved when switching from visual back to html? or how can i stop tinymce to remove them, if he is the cause?

I am lost here, and if anyone has a simple solution, I would be glad, and it is my hope that as a side-effect also the theme will not mess anymore.

    Thanks to all

PS: And yes, in parallel i contacted the Avada Team. But independent from this I would like to understand how these editor behaviours work and would prefer to solve it few lines of code in my functions.

Thanks a lot, now I understand that post_meta covers it. I deleted them correctly in the media library of WP, not just deleting on server, so your plugin will do all i need. I wish you wonderful days.

Thank you for the superfast response. Your suggestion looks great, but also there I don’t find any mention about traces of deleted images. Don’t they leave any? If they do, is it considerable to also add their cleaning in that plugin?
