In reply to: [Coach Mentor] Email footerHmm. I’ve tried this again, and it’s not opening up the email (Macbook’s Mail app in this instance).
I can see the mailto:[email protected] appear in the bottom left corner of the browser window, but it’s not activating anything.
On the site itself, Inspect is showing this from the link:
<a href=”mailto:[email protected]” data-type=”mailto” data-id=”mailto:[email protected]”>[email protected]</a>
Anything standing out?Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Coach Mentor] Email footerHi Cas.
Thanks – I feel like I tried that, but it’s entirely possible I missed something in the frustration of it not working.
I’ll try again ands report back.
Might it be an issue with the actual field? There is also a CTA at the top of the page which I also want to open up as either a contact form or open up an email as per this footer link).
Do you think I could just get this live (without annoucing anything) and see it any remaining issues can be checked on here?
Feel I’m close to getting this over the line but I’m having to do this after work (which is sat behind computer monitors all day) so not fully invested!
Thank you!Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Coach Mentor] Changing old them into new Coach Mentor themeHey all.
I’m rebuilding this site sporadically (but would like it finished over the next few weeks if possible haha!).
https://lalki.co.uk/ –
I’ve put the site in Landing Page mode whilst I rebuild. Wondering if anyone here can see the site above as it looks whilst I build it (i.e. the edited mode) as I need a bit of advice.
Homepage is kind of done and I’ve suggested to the client/friend I’ll build all the pages then refine minor tweaks once we’re back up as it’s proving to be a blocker for me to return too (given my time is tight too).
I’ve quite a few old pages (old site) I no longer need but I’m forgotten how I create a new page with a new URL so I can link to from either homepage CTA’s and/or homepage top nav bar.
I’ve created a new page just now (or in the process of) but it’s the jump to the next step of having this as a specific url i.e. https://lalki.co.uk/Reiki
Is it relatively straightforward?
The remaining pages aren’t too numerous and pretty much the same bar the content (expect for a contacts page).

In reply to: [Coach Mentor] Changing old them into new Coach Mentor themeI’ve had a little play around tonight and the cobwebs are slowly being blown away!
I’ll fix up a ‘coming soon’ page over the next day or two and work on this in the background.
As it stands we’re just looking at a Home page, 3 services pages (one for each therapy she provides), a blog page and events pages and a contact page: 7 in total, so no major site (at this stage).
https://lalki.co.uk/
I did notice (and you’ll see this on the three card sections (Reiki, Trauma Therapy and Hypnobirthing) that the images here may need some help to fit. I’m guessing we should have images exasctly the same dimensions – I tried to re size them to an approximative size but with different dimensions these won’t fit. One the live site the middle image expands out from image 1 and 2 (which it doesn’t on the theme builder page).
These images will need a back and forth with the client anyway (using the ones shown as place holders for the time being, although she may want to retain them).
Great news on the contact page btw – this is a crucial one for her.
Thanks v much!Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Coach Mentor] Changing old them into new Coach Mentor themeUpdate.
Looks like those new Coach Mentor theme pages in the Pages WP dashboard now.
Which means I can likely ‘turn off’ the old pages now.
May also pop in a ‘coming soon’ page as I build back up.
I suspect the new site will only have a 5/6 pages tops. The I need to drop the logo into the menu header if possible (atm it just states ‘Lalki’) if that’s possible?
And ensure I have a contact page (she did get a lot of use from the previous contact page).
Feel a little more confident I can get this built up soon now.

In reply to: [Coach Mentor] Changing old them into new Coach Mentor themeJust to add: Yesterday I went through the site editor coach mentor templates and chose a few depending on what new pages I want.
Opened the pages today and looks look like it timed me/threw me out.
Will these new templates pages be saved/stored somewhere (I’m sure they are, it’s just locating them from the wordpress dashboard – the ‘Pages’ in dashboard are the old theme forest pages I mentioned). They’re so broken it might be worth just deleting them anyway!EDIT: Just noticed from going back into the main WP dashboard that super addons has it’s own dashboard.
Best to just use this solely to create the new pages? Seems like you cadd custom code etc in there anyway.
Question from this is can I rename the old Home page (for example) to the new coach mentor themed home page i.e. if there was a Lalki/about-us page from the previous site, how do I ensure this URL can be used on the new coach mentor themed site?

In reply to: [Coach Mentor] Changing old them into new Coach Mentor themeThanks v much for the reply.
As it happens and since I made this post I’d dived into (what I presume was) the theme builder (Super add ons – pretty sure it’s that one).
Essentially gave me the options for style of the pages (free and premium).
Again, presuming these are the pages that I should use from scratch but just import the content in (and imagery etc)?
I’ll be honest, it’s been a while since I built the old site so all the plug ins and short codes/custom codes I simply can’t recall!
I guess I can cross the bridge of adding new plug ins if and when they’re required.
Most important thing is just getting the site back up with *some content at least!

In reply to: Add new theme but can’t edit WP site^^ Thanks threadi.
Likely add content to the new home page then review what other pages she needs.
I have all the content from the previous incarnation but advised her to review (and edit/shorten the existing content).Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Add new theme but can’t edit WP siteOk.
I’ve had a quick look at https://lalki.co.uk/
The home page is from the new theme. None of the new links work (and the old menu links are not on this home page) so for the time being it’s just a homepage that I need to add in content.
The block theme is from Coach Mentor – advised of installing a plug in and WordPress has a new update (8.3) which I’ll do.
I can see the old pages in Pages in the Dash but on viewing them it’s pretty much the new theme frame but with a string of text (CSS etc) where the old theme once sat. There’s some of the old content in there and the odd picture but essentially a broken page.
Suspected this would happen hence thinking I’d have to build page by page.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Add new theme but can’t edit WP siteThanks Treadi. Yes, I’m kind of getting reacquainted with the processes. My problem is time dedicated to this. After work I’d rather step away from a screen/technology but sometimes that’s not possible and I have to do follow up reading for my job. But then it’s also crucial I go out and exercise/walk then gym etc. Life’s been a series of ups and downs lately so always cautious of pushing too much of my relax/down times away.
But I’ve promised I’d help her out so I want to crack on with getting her site back into a decent shape.
I’ve chosen a block theme as I’d hoped this would make the process a lot easier and efficient. Ideally if I could tweak the old content to fit the new theme the better.
I’m aboout to go and have a look at the site now. The criitical errors were down to at least one plug in. They’ve all been disabled now so hopefully I have access to the full dashboard to edit the site.
The client has new content anyway (at least for some of the pages) plus additional pages.
Anyway, let me go and dive back in and check the current state of it all!
Thanks!Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Add new theme but can’t edit WP siteJust off the phone from Ionis – the critical error was linked to a plug in (or two) with them being so old.
Dashboard shouild be accessible again now so I can start a slow rebuild.
I’ll do this page by page.
Do I still need to think in terms of child themes (can’t quite recall why I did this originally several years ago!)
Thanks.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Add new theme but can’t edit WP siteApologies – I’ve just not had the time to dive back into this what with work and life stuff.
However, I’d like to jump back in over the next week or so.
The site is supported by Ionis (client has paid for support and they’re generally very helpful).
I had a brief look at how to look at the error log – is this something I can do myself (with limited dev skills?!) or might Ionis look at what’s causing the issues within the PHP?
Looking likely I’ll have to rebuild page by page but still hopeful the new theme will overwrite the previous theme and I can just tweak. I don’t think she has any other option than me doing this on a adoc basis for her (she’ll pay a little towards my time).
She doesn’t use the site as an e commerce portal but it had generate quite a lot of interest and business for her services.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Add new theme but can’t edit WP siteI think as I’m effectively rebuilding from scratch I can delete a lot of those plug ins (then add new ones as an when once the new site is beginning to function and look ok).
With the debugging, is this something that’s relatively accessible for someone that’s not a developer/engineer (but have carried out CSS/HTML changes etc)?
Looks like I have to insert a bit of code into the php file to begin the process.

In reply to: Add new theme but can’t edit WP siteManaged to find this info from the Site Health on the dashboard (and mentions that critical error):
_____________________________________________________________________________________1 critical issue
Critical issues are items that may have a high impact on your sites performance or security, and resolving these issues should be prioritized.Page cache is not detected and the server response time is slowPerformance
Page cache enhances the speed and performance of your site by saving and serving static pages instead of calling for a page every time a user visits.
Page cache is detected by looking for an active page cache plugin as well as making three requests to the homepage and looking for one or more of the following HTTP client caching response headers:
cache-control,expires,age,last-modified,etag,x-cache-enabled,x-cache-disabled,x-srcache-store-status,x-srcache-fetch-status.- Median server response time was 1,582 milliseconds. It should be less than the recommended 600 milliseconds threshold.
- No client caching response headers were detected.
- A page cache plugin was not detected.

In reply to: Add new theme but can’t edit WP siteThe only mention I get from a plug in that is at fault is this (and this is from the email):
https://discover.commoninja.com/wordpress/plugin/wp-assistant
Only trouble is I can’t access the plug ins from the dashboard as it shoots the critical error message on the dashboard page. There’s little I can access atm from the dashboard unfortunately.
I did (somehow) manage to find the updated plug ins page and the only ones not updated were related to ‘Meta box’:
I have three errors on that:An error occurred while updating Meta Box Conditional Logic: Failed to update plugin. Check your license details first.
An error occurred while updating Meta Box Show Hide: Failed to update plugin. Check your license details first.
An error occurred while updating Meta Box Tabs: Failed to update plugin. Check your license details first.
I tried to start building with the new theme via superb add ons but that doesn’t take me anywhere.I’ll attempt the error log this evening – am I ok to just post the results on this thread?
Thanks.
