I changed the theme and it fixed it.

I am reading little by little : Theme development. But it has so much to read.
Any pointed advice in addition to shorter secret answer about Google search. LOL.

web host asked me to delete all files and re-install the wordpress.
I used filezilla. on remote site, selected the main folder and clicked- delete on keyboard. everything gone.

Now I don’t see public_html folder also.
1. can i still install wordpress or what should i do
2. in previous installation .htaccess was not there.
how to make sure i get it this time with installation
3. Filezilla disconnects with in a minute or less than that by itself. How can make sure it stays logged in until i disconnect it.
