    Dear George,

    You were right on target, regarding the source of my confusion:

    “The following descriptions of the two settings are possibly the cause of confusion:

    * Automatically generate the description meta tag.
    * Automatically generate the keywords meta tag.
    Their actual function is that they enable/disable the generation of the description/keywords meta tags. If they are disabled, then no description or keywords meta tags are generated, even if the user fills in a custom description in the metabox in the post editing screen.”

    Once I enabled “Automatically generate the description meta tag” and “Automatically generate the keywords meta tag”, the keywords, description and title appeared in the page source.

    Thanks again for working through this with me.

    Best regards,
    Baldur

    P.S. On my initial attempt, I had for some reason developed the notion that “Automatically generate the description meta tag” meant that the description meta tag would be generated automatically for me. I had refrained from enabling this, because I wanted to manually define the description meta tag.

    Dear George,

    Thanks a lot for your response! I want to make clear I sincerely appreciate your feedback and efforts to help me figure this out.

    Brief Reflection on My Original Post
    I realize that bringing the Google Crawler into the problem formulation confuses the overall picture. I should have limited the problem statement to the Add-Meta-Tags plugin.

    Further Context
    On the master page, I specify the following meta-related info:
    Metadata Plugin
    * Description: Our SketchRec SW can recognize of graphical objects and text in image sketches. It provides a user friendly interface combined with touchscreen support.
    * Keywords: sketch recognition
    * Title: SketchRec, SearchRec, and the Ecosystem for Learning and Team Design
    Yoast SEO Plugin
    * Meta Description: Our SketchRec SW can recognize of graphical objects and text in image sketches. It provides a user friendly interface combined with touchscreen support.
    * Focus Keyword: sketch recognition
    * SEO Title: SketchRec, SearchRec and the Ecosystem for Learning and Team Design
    [I may alter this later on. For now, I am simply trying to get what I specify to show up.]

    Question
    Why is the Description from the Add-Meta-Tags plugin not showing up in the page source?

    Brief Snippet from the Page Source

    <!-- BEGIN Metadata added by Add-Meta-Tags WordPress plugin -->
    <!-- Scope BEGIN: Organization -->
    <span itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Organization">
    <meta itemprop="name" content="Imagars LLC" />
    <meta itemprop="description" content="Home of SketchRec, SearchRec and the Ecosystem for Learning and Team Design" />
    <meta itemprop="logo" content="http://www.imagars.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Logo-Imagars-Small.png" />
    <meta itemprop="url" content="http://www.imagars.com/" />
    </span> <!-- Scope END: Organization -->
    <!-- END Metadata added by Add-Meta-Tags WordPress plugin -->

    [As you know, you can view the full source by accessing http://www.imagars.com, right click on the main page and select ‘view page source’.]

    The key point is that the content of the Description field, “Our SketchRec SW can recognize of graphical objects and text in image sketches. It provides a user friendly interface combined with touchscreen support.”, is nowhere to be found in the page source.

    Again, thanks a lot for your efforts to help me figure this out.

    Best regards,
    Baldur

    Thanks a lot, George!!

    Per your suggestion, I have completed the following steps:
    1. In the WordPress, I selected Settings > Metadata.
    2. For Schema.org Metadata, I enabled the automatic generation and embedding of Schema.org Microdata.
    3. I disabled the automatic generation of the description meta tag.
    4. I disabled the automatic generation of the keywords meta tag.
    5. Under ‘Default Image’, Provided a link to our logo.
    6. In the Google Testing Tool, I re-fetched and validated the data.
    – The Testing Tool now reports ‘All good’.
    [ What a surprise! ]

    Later today, I intend to issue a request to have the Google Crawler to re-crawl the site. I will then be checking the results.

    Thanks again! You just saved my day.

    Best regards,
    Baldur

    Thanks a lot, kmessinger!!!!!!

    Your suggestion sounded a little bit risky (since I was working on a live site). But I gave it a try, anyhow, and it worked beautiful!

    The plugins that I trust are in the …/wp-content/plugins/ folder. The other ones (registration forms and download managers) are in the …/wp-content/plugins-old/ folder.

    Best regards,
    Baldur

    FYI, you saved my day!
