In reply to: [Rich Reviews by Starfish] Export ReviewsUnfortunately there’s no “normal” way of doing this. We didn’t build the plugin, so this is just how we inherited it. We wish there were.
There should be a way to export the data from the database, as CSV or something similar. But that’s something you’d have to ask your host about or a database expert. We can’t really give support there. Sorry.
Our current plan is to rebuild the features of Rich Reviews into Starfish Reviews (our other plugin) and do it the right way. At that time, we’ll offer a migration process from RR into Starfish Reviews. We may also add an exporter for RR, while we’re at it, or at some point will add an exporter from Starfish Reviews so you can get your reviews out from there.

In reply to: [Rich Reviews by Starfish] The link followed has expiredI’m sorry for the slow reply. We got very busy with our Black Friday / Cyber Monday promotions.
You’ll need to find the
wp_optionstable. The find the entry in there calledrr_optionsand delete it. You should also be able to delete any other entries that start withrr_. They’re from the old version of the plugin and conflict with the new version. They were supposed to be removed when updating, but it’s failed on some sites and we don’t know why.Can you do this and let me know if that fixes it? Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Reviews by Starfish] TranslationHi @tdelaf,
1. we haven’t had time to work on the translation stuff yet since some other issues were more pressing. I’ll make sure we look at this soon, though.
2. you’d have to edit the plugin directly to edit that. We don’t recommend this as it means your changes will be erased on next update. I’ll see if we can add a way to remove that in a future release.
3. I’m not sure we can get away with this, since there’s so many ways people might set up the plugin with the shortcodes. They might even have the reviews on an entirely different page from the snippet and since we don’t know the URL of that page, there’s no way to consistently link to it. Hope that makes sense.

In reply to: [Rich Reviews by Starfish] Schema Error ItemType Should Be Local BusinessHi Cindy, all I can think of is manually updating it via FTP. The update mechanism is working great for lots of other people. Contact your host and maybe they can shed light on why the update isn’t working?
On your original issue for this thread: we just released version 1.8.4 that specifically addresses this issue. You can now go into Options and set the schema (aka “structured data” aka “rich meta”) to either Local Business or Organization. Local Business presents some additional fields that you’ll need to fill out.
Please update to 1.8.4 and let me know if the original issue is resolved (it should be). Thanks!

In reply to: [Rich Reviews by Starfish] Notification problewmWhat do you use to send email from your site? Like are you using a plugin or something? Or just the default WP sending through your hosting?
Could you also double-check the email you entered to receive the review notifications?
The plugin sends through the normal WP sending mechanism. So if other emails (comment notifications, lost password, etc) are working, Rich Reviews should as well….

In reply to: [Rich Reviews by Starfish] Stars Gone In SerpsHi, we’re working on a fix regarding rich snippets (aka “Schema” aka “structured data”). It’s in the final testing phases and should be released very soon.
However, an older version (or this new fixed version) does not guarantee your reviews will come back on Google. Google recently changed its algorithms and is slowly removing all “self serving” reviews from their results. Everything may be correct in your schema, but Google will no longer display the stars and overall rating in their results, if they deem them to be “self-serving.” You can read more about it here: https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-reviews-rich-results-update/326075/
I’m not totally sure how they define that, but it seems to mean that if your business captures reviews about your business on your own website (and therefore can filter and choose what’s displayed) then Google considers that self-serving and won’t display that in the search results.
To be clear: if that’s what’s happening, it has nothing to do with Rich Reviews plugin and is all on Google. It’s their platform, they can do what they want, and there’s nothing we can do about it. So you may see your stars disappear regardless of plugin version.
