In reply to: Javascript causing problems accessing site? Thanks iridiax. The problem is I am not a programmer.
1. Blank spaces (converted to %20) in your directory name. Use only web-safe characters for files and directories. HOW/WHERE DO I CHANGE THIS?
2. Relative links to the files. You must use absolute links (full links) with WordPress. I DON’T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS – HOW DO I FIX IT?
The javascript.css file only contains
#wrapper { display: none; }Are you sure this isn’t causing your page content not to display? IT MIGHT BE. I DON’T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS THOUGH. WHAT CAN I DO TO RESOLVE IT? DELETE IT? CHANGE IT? IF SO, TO WHAT?
Unfortunately I really need it spelled out, as I am not a programmer and do not speak the language….any help appreciated. I’m going on my second week of people not being able to access my site. It is so hard to find help with this! Very frustrating.

In reply to: Was I just hacked? HELP!!Oh geez, I just spent 3 hours correcting a problem created by following these directions: http://tdot-blog.com/wordpress/6-simple-steps-to-change-your-table-prefix-in-wordpress
It did not work as directed. I ended up with duplicate tables in my database somehow and could not rename all the wp_ tables. It took hours for my web host to help me – I finally had to create a new database and restore the old backup.
What a pain!
I just wanted to know if my site was hacked or not….

In reply to: popular posts – change order from comments count to viewsIt seems like this should be a simple fix – a matter of exchanging a term (unknown to me right now) with “posts.comment_count.” But I cannot find anything in the support forum.
Can anyone help me? Thank you!

In reply to: Was I just hacked? HELP!!Thank you Esmi, that was helpful. With regard to the security result “The file .htaccess does not exist in wp-admin/” does that mean I am missing a file? Your response only addressed password protection and I am unsure how that is related to the security result above.
ALso, I still don’t know how to tell if I was hacked. Is there any way to tell?
THank you!!

In reply to: Was I just hacked? HELP!!Thank you Esmi. I installed that plug in and this is the result of the security scan – can you advise on the bolded items below? I’m not sure if I should click on the link to change the table prefix or what to do about the .htaccess file. How would I tell if my site has been hacked? Many thanks!!:

In reply to: Was I just hacked? HELP!!Weird, so now I can access both again…AND I just re-tried publishing a new post and it was successful.
Is there a file I can search in terms of checking to see if I was hacked?
Has anyone ever heard of this issue before?

In reply to: Upgrading to 2.8.5How often is WP updated? I am new to WP and it seems like it happens really often. Why the new version now, I just upgraded to 2.8.4. Is it critical to upgrade as soon as it comes out or can one wait? Looks like there are bugs…
