    ekoparry,

Thank you. I believe that will work for me, I will certainly try it.

dplum, thanks for the reply. I guess WordPress forums don’t support the [code] feature? I knew how to display an image using img src, but not the code to make it fit in to the form.

Oh OK, I understand. MY confusion is that my website has an available mysql database that is at present unused and it is not linked to cfdb, it is the second database you mentioned. It has its own separate interface on my website. I would prefer to be using that one for everything, as I have multiple interfaces to develop and don’t want to be using multiple databases and user interfaces for them.

I need to develop output forms from the data collected, and I thought when you mentioned above there is no word or pdf export, that I cannot develop a method to do so using the cfdb.

I have a lot to learn about all this. I think the path I need to focus on is to develop some code to access the data from the table where it is collected and present it in a format that will suit my end user.

Man this is such a long road, but I do appreciate all of the input.

    Thank you.

I was able to successfully and easily got the inputted form information to the database, so that is a good first step.

Is there a way to have contact form data imported directly into a mysql database from the form itself without having to manually do all the export/import conversions mentioned?

    PWD,

Thanks for your input. It opened the path for me to find the solution, which was a setting on the permissions page to make the page privately published.

I think it was a combination of settings that worked, but sometimes I just need another voice to stimulate thought patterns, and your questions did the trick. : )

Is this where you are sure you got the theme?

    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/themes/omega/

Yes. I downloaded it through the wordpress dashboard link. It has the ThemeHall tag at the bottom of every page.

a redirect confirmation page for my registration form

What method is used here? A plugin?

Yes. I am using the plugin “Simple WP Membership”, but the link being placed on the theme menu page occurred when I added a new page on the dashboard itself.

and the confirmation page is still listed in the menu.

Please review any server cache in use and clear your local browser cache after.

I used 1 browser/device to do all the work, then I used 3 different browsers on two different devices to test. Two of the browsers and one device had no history of visiting the website, plus after I saw the added link did not go away I did test edited changes by making the link private, and it removed all traces of it from the website on all browsers, (including the ability to register at all, unfortunately), so I don’t believe it is a memory cache issue.

As for the rest, they seem all related to the same issue: Plugins. Which one(s)?

The only plugins related to this issue are the simple membership form and a plugin for setting up an order form, which is working fine with no issues. I did look at the source code, which has a list [li] code chain and you can see the page link on that list. I didn’t want to mess with removing it from the code until I understood more about what might be causing the problem.

Thank you very much for the reply, I do appreciate your help. I will go to the theme page and see if they can shed any light on this as well, that is a good suggestion.

I will. Thanks so much for all your help getting me started on this.

No not really a members site, but similar, now that you say it.

We offer a service to specific businesses in a niche field. We have a stable returning customer base that orders from us throughout the year on a regular basis. They log in and fill out an order form. That form data is placed in a database for us to use for providing the service and billing them for that service. The login lets us know who specifically ordered it so we can track it. I want our customers to avoid having to fill out a name and email field every time they order, with the database connection of their log in to track the data trail of their order.

Each “customer” may have up to 10 different people who order from us, and they all need their own log in so we can individually track who ordered what to be sure we know who gets the information they need, as well as who to bill.

We are not open to the general public. We set our customers up with access to ordering ahead of time.

The costs at our old site were soaring, the web provider customer service was really bad, so we moved. I’ve always been a fan of php and the open source platform concept, so here we are, starting from scratch.

It is quite possible a member plugin would work but I need to understand more about how they work. If you can suggest any you know of that are stable and can support storing information in a database that would be great.

    Thank you again.

OK, Thanks, I looked it over and I think I can manage to populate the form fields from the log in page, but I’m still a little foggy on the login/database connection in this way.

I will have a front page with a link that says “customers log in here”. Would I use a plug in that will be able to compare the login data input values (usr, pwd) against the database info for each customer and create a session type cookie, or will that have to be hand coded in php?

I am new at WP and the whole plug in universe so I’m still trying to figure how everything works together. I’m hoping there’s a plug in that will do for the login what it does for the contact form. My php coding skills are not quite there yet.

I am making good progress with the order form though. Thanks again for that link you sent the other day, it was very helpful.

    hello,

Thanks for the documentation link. I will be working on it today.

    regarding Ques. #2:

I was working on the form and noticed there was an “auto form fill in” option for the name field and email field for “logged in users who are not administrators”

Where do they log in? They won’t be word press users, they will be business customers.

I have plans to link this form to a database, and I was hoping I could populate some form fields automatically upon log in with the users name, email address, and any field where the data remains static from that data so they don’t have to fill it in every time, but I don’t know where the log in part comes in for the form.

Eventually this will be an e commerce website with an established base of returning customers, so I want to make the ordering process as fluid as possible for them, there will be very little to no drive by traffic. I want to be able to pre-set up all the log in information for the customers so they can just log in and order.

This form was recommended to me as one of the better ones that is easy to use and flexible and can be tied to a database (with CFDB).

Thank you for your help, I hope that is a better description of what I’m trying to do.

PS EDIT: I misspoke on the version I am using. This WP is version 4.0.44.
