Thank you for your response.
The point I am trying to make is that data sharing should be under the control of the site owner. There are far too many plugins that ‘mine data’ without the users permission.
I would recommend putting controls in the admin menu allowing the user to make conscious decisions on how and who data is shared with.

In reply to: [Easing Slider] Would need some extra featuresMatthew,
No need to apologise – its does what is says on the tin. Featured posts are handled by countless other plugins and themes.
Excellent work.

In reply to: [Easing Slider] Floating Easing Slider Next to Existing Small Logo HeaderI have an Easing slider slideshow in a post – I am trying to get it to float left of the text. I used to be able to do this with Riva by enclosing the shortcode in a span class=float.
Doesn;t seem to matter what I do – I can’t get it to float. Even tried some inline CSS – [easingsliderpro id=”3″ style=”float: left;”] – that doesn’t work either.
Any suggestions, anyone, please?
Cheers,
Mike

In reply to: [imPress] Help! Installed this and my site crashedYep – broke my WP 3.6 site as well – pity. Would have liked to try it.
Little point using a plugin that requires disabling multiple plugin to get it to work.

In reply to: titles in menusI’ve sorted this by putting a little html – the menu in this case is small.
I’d still be very interested to know if there is a solution if there are many pages to deal with.

In reply to: WP admin, even 3.3, incredibly slow.Well,
Here we are again – an upgrade that breaks something that was working perfectly fine ( a common thread throughout the software industry ).
With the constant nagging by WordPress, in the admin area, to upgrade, I, foolishly did so.
As mentioned above – I now have all my sites running like dogs – hopeless.
Are we really expected to disable everything to try to identify the problem? Whatever happened to developers making sure the update works before pushing it out.
Having said that, I have tried all of the suggested steps, disabling plugins, etc.
The simple fact is, there is obviously a big problem with this release. I suspect the WordPress developers know this.
I am surprised that there seems to be a total lack of comment from the developers on this forum.
Very disappointed with this. So what to do – rollback my sites to an earlier, working version or look for alternatives?
Cheers,
Mike

In reply to: WordPress very very slowSorry I can’t offer a solution.
All I can say is that I have upgraded a number of sites – they are ALL now incredibly slow.
In my opinion there is a serious performance problem here that needs to be sorted out.
The end user will only keep using WordPress if it remains reliable and functions at acceptable speeds.
Something is broken in 3.3.
Example: http://www.rnmedics.com (this was working fine before upgrading to 3.3).
I for one am currently looking to move my sites to an alternative which is really unfortunate.

Mike
Thanks for that. Seems to load and activate OK now.
Still have a recurring issue with the filemanager side of things.
Although the uploads directory is set to wp-content/uploads/ – the filemanager is unable to list any files that reside in the folder. Browsing the server gets you here –
‘wp-content/plugins/ckeditor-for-wordpress/filemanager/browser/default/browser.html?Connector=../../connectors/php/connector.php&type=Images&CKEditor=content&CKEditorFuncNum=2&langCode=en’
Obviously not getting to the wp-content/uploads folder. As a contrast – using Foliopress – browsing for an file takes you to the correct directory.
This has been the same with all versions I have used.

Mike
ckEditor seems to be broken with WordPress 3.3 – installing 3.6.2.4 kills my site – the only way to get it back is to remove ckEditor completely.

In reply to: Thumbnails not showing with excerpts in category listingsMakes no sense – themes and plugins all updated and fine.
Bizarre.

In reply to: Thumbnails not showing with excerpts in category listingsHi Esmi,
Thanks for that.
An awful lot of work to sort out a problem that shouldn’t occur in the first place – a site that has been happily working for a number of year is broken by an update.
I am sorting the problem by reinstating featured images on each post – they had all disappeared. Poor, to say the least.
Thanks for the advice anyway.
Cheers,
Mike

Deleted all categories – carefully re-entered and ensured heirarchy is correct. Just messed up in this template.
Confused.
Cheers!
