It works. I’ve figured out what I did wrong. When I create my customized unsubscribe page I can’t test it in the preview mode like I would test all my other pages before they go live. I need to actually assign my customized “unsubscribe page” under “Settings > Basics”. And then by clicking on the unsubscribe link inside the email the unsubscribe page shows the “yes, I want to unsubscribe” link.
Any chance I can get some help with this issue? I still haven’t figured out a solution for this shortcode.
After MP approved my account I was able to send out emails. Problem solved.
I want to mention though my Mailpoet account has not been approved yet. Maybe that could be the reason?
I solved it. I managed to add subscribers to the mailing list after a clean re-installation of mailpoet.

In the meantime I was able to partially solve the issue myself but I still have a problem with the checkbox. I was able to hide the default mc4wp checkbox through CSS “display: none” command and I created my customized checkbox instead of the default one.
But I can’t get the customized checkbox to be a mandatory field. I’ve already added the checkbox tag [mc4wp_checkbox] to the “required acceptance” field but and I also ticked the double opt-in checkbox. Both settings are located in the “mailchimp lite” tab of the CF7 plugin.
The process should be that a user can only subscribe to the newsletter if he gives his consent by ticking the checkbox. Only providing an email address is not sufficient. User MUST also tick the checkbox and afterwards click the double opt-in link in the email.
Well when I click on the link for free plugin support I get redirected to this forum. Not quite sure what I should do.
