    That is part of the normal optimization process. However, you will notice that the priority (PRI) is set to 30, which prevents optimization from interfering with other processes. The default priority is 20, as seen on all the other processes, and Linux/UNIX-style systems will give CPU preference to those with the lowest priority.

    The major problem site went down with this. I am greatly sorry, this doesn’t fit our need. I’d be happy to see a possible fix in the future.

    If your site went down, you really need to use the API (or some other optimization plugin that doesn’t compress images locally).
