Hi,
For IE9 you left the “ratio” parameter to “auto” and IE doesn’t work correctly with that; you should set it to 4/3 or 16/9 to force IE working.
In the next release I’ll check if the Browser is IE and overwrite this property to prevent the block.
For the iPad this can’t work as for security restrictions on all mobile devices that don’t allow autoplay of any media and block the Youtube API. I suggest to place a background image as fallback for all the mobile devices.
Bye,
Matteo
hi

regarding the ipad
i see a white blank screen with no option to press play
what am i doing wrong
thanks
No… maybe I’ve not been clear 🙂
This component doesn’t work on any mobile device.
Sorry.
hi I have WP3.5.1
and the newest version of Your wonderful plugin.
Generally it works great.
But there is a problem with ie8.
As at the beginning there is a music but the video is not showing.
But surprisingly when You will just jump to other ie8 tab and go back then the video is normally visible.
(the ratio is set to be not auto – but it still not help)
Thank You for Your effort!
@zofijeczka
Can you give me the URL of the page where you have the YTPlayer active?
On my tests it works perfectly on IE8; can you see it working here

@zofijeczka
Just tested your site using IE8 but I can’t replicate your issue… I can see the video each time I get in…
Did you try from different computers?
Bye,
Matteo
hi yes I try from the two computers – at my work and my friend.
Ok then I will observe it and I will try to look on some more ie8 computers.
Then I will give a response.
Thank you, again!
You could do one more test going to this URL and tell me if you can see the movie:

hi I have tested on two computers:
1. film is not playing continuously in ie8 it stops randomly on eg 00 : 03 / 00 : 41 or 00 : 17 / 00 : 41, after changing tabs it start to play – but it is not so smooth like in Firefox.
2computer:
friend answer:
It is playing ,but it looks a little different on IE8 than on Firefox. In IE8 eats a little more resources (CPU) and the background is a little smaller than in Firefox where it is ‘full screen’.
Hi zofijeczka,
For the CPU usage and the smoothness There’s no solution as IE8 is an old generation browser and has many rendering and performance bugs.
Actually IE8 doesn’t support HTML5 features and the video is rendered using the Flash plugin differently from all the other modern browsers that render videos using native HTML5 video TAG.
The YTPlayer plug in works with it but works better with all the others 🙂
Anyway I discovered a bug (and I’m going to fix it in the next update) that affects IE8: the video doesn’t show if the opacity parameter value is different from 1.
Bye,
Matteo
Thank You!! I hope that ie8 will die as soon as possible 🙂
All best for You!
