    Hi,

There are two problems when using the latest version v2.1.0 of your plugin. First off, I did a clean install and not the update from the older version.

    1. Sometimes at random I get the following error when in WP admin:

DataTables warning: table id=eafl-link-overview – Ajax error. For more information about this error, please see http://datatables.net/tn/7

    2. The default setting “Open new tab” for all affiliate links does not work. No matter how I try to set it to open in a new tab, it still opens in the same tab.

    Do you have any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Justin

    Hi Justin,

    1. Any of the other plugins on your website could be causing the issue. I’ll change it in the next update so it doesn’t show the alert but just ignores the problem. You don’t have issues adding links, right?

    2. Is this when adding affiliate links using our shortcodes?

    Kind regards,
    Brecht

    Hi Brecht,

    Thanks for your quick reply!

    1. I don’t use a lot of other plugins, but I will give it a try to disable them and see what happens. Adding links works like a charm.

    2. No, I am not using shortcodes. Just the regular affiliate links inserted by the WYSIWYG editor.

The “Open in New Tab” can only work automatically if you use our shortcodes for adding the links (basically just clicking on the blue link instead of the regular one in the editor).

If you’re adding regular links you have to set those to open in a new tab.

Yep, I am adding it the way with the blue link. On the edit link tab the target is set to default (open in new tab). But then still it opens in the same tab.

I tried to override the default target and to set it to open in new tab manually but gives the same result. This is happening with all the affiliate links.

Can you give me a link to a page on your website where you’ve added links like this?

    Hi Brecht,

Sure, there are several affiliate links on this page:

Could you try switching to a default theme (like Twenty Sixteen) and see if it works then?
If not, try disabling all other plugins for a second and check again.

I’m not sure what could be going wrong, so the above can exclude compatibility issues.

    Hi Brecht,

I switched to the Twenty Seventeen theme and disabled all plugins (except yours of course šŸ˜‰ ) and the links still open in the same tab.

Have you tried just resaving the settings on the Easy Affiliate Links > Settings page?

    Hi Brecht,

Ok, tried to re-save the settings and also switch between open in same tab and open in new tab. Still the same result. I see in the source code that the target var is in the link but the destination is cut off somehow. It looks like this:

    hotels and guesthouses

Would it be possible to provide me with temporary admin access so I can take a look? You can email us at [email protected] to set things up.

    Hi Brecht,

Sorry for the late reply. I’m currently travelling and there is not much of a decent internet connection around. About this issue. I noticed that creating new links now seem to work properly. I will re-create the old links manually to fix them.

Many thanks for your help anyway!

Oh, strange. But happy to hear it’s working now!
