The global setting for comments is under Settings->Discussion, you can enable comments by checking “Allow people to post comments on the article”, and save.
On a post to post basis, you can enable/disable comments by going to the editing page (Manage->Posts) of the post -> Advanced Options (at the bottom half of the page) -> Comments & Ping, and there you can choose your setting on the comments, then save. This will override the global setting.
Thank you…My comments are already set to “Allow people to post comments on the article” so that wasn’t the issue.
However, when I scroll down to “Advance Options”, the whole bottom half of the page is messed up. All advance options appear twice – the first section has what the options do, and then the next section has the textboxes and checkboxes to edit them. But they are overlapping each other…
Could this be a result of a bad plugin conflicting, or should I reinstall 2.5 again?
I did change the option on the individual post, but it still says comments off.
– I just updated the files again and it reset the Advance Options back to normal. Clicked the checkbox for allow post and it is now doing what it should. Thank you haochi :
Found the culprit on what was causing this! It is the “Add Your Own Headers” Plugin – http://wp.uberdose.com/2007/03/30/add-your-own-headers/

Hmmm. My comments aren’t showing either, but the problem is expressed a little differently on my site. My settings also enable comments.
My comments manager says there are 46 comments to go through, however, when I click to review them, it says ‘no comments awaiting moderation…yet’
Any idea how I get to those comments?

I’m stuck in a pickle here. I posted a message on my site letting users know that I’ll be upgrading to 2.5. Upgraded, with only 1 flaw – when I create a new post or edit an existing post, the comments say “Comments off” when I view the post.
I looked in my settings and couldn’t find anywhere saying they are turned off. Any idea why this is happening?
