2FA not working with hCaptcha

    Hello there,

    I am using hCaptcha at the log-in page. After activating 2FA for my user-account I cannot log-in anymore. It shows me 2 text fields for username and password and the hCaptcha on it. After pressing on “Login” I get an error message, that I must enter my 2FA Code as prompted. But there’s no input field for the code showing.

    I am pretty sure Wordfence is not compatible with hCaptcha. May you add compatibility for the plugin? reCAPTCHA 3 is not an option for my site due to data privacy.

    I am using the latest version of the Wordfence plugin.

    Thanks for reaching out. We haven’t tested the plugin with hCaptcha. We are discussing offering hCaptcha as an alternative to reCAPTCHA, specifically because of the reason you mentioned (IIRC). I do not have a time or specific release it might be included in because we are just starting the discussion on it, but I will make it known that someone else has asked about it.

    What you can try as a workaround, is this:
    On the login form enter your username as normal.
    In the password field enter your password, a space, and then the 2FA code.
    For example, if your password was w0rdf3nc3! and the code was 123 456, you would enter it in the password field like this:
    w0rdf3nc3! 123456

    Try that and see if it gets you in.
