What does “Fixed removal of the “Try Gutenberg” dashboard widget” mean? If it means the prompt to use Gutenberg has been restored, I don’t want it.

No, it means the removal of that prompt in WordPress 4.9 was fixed 🙂

I’m not trying to be awkward, but what does that mean? If I update to 1.3 will there be any prompt to use Gutenberg in any way shape or form?

See, WordPress has lost my trust; I’m afraid to update anything. It’s like being held hostage.

At the moment no I do not think you would see a prompt to use Gutenberg. Defaults in 1.3 when you activate the plugin are:

‘Allow users to switch editors’ is set to NO
‘Default editor for all users’ is set to Classic

In your own Profile, you do not see a Gutenberg editor option with these defaults.
