It doesn’t have support for 3x but it wouldn’t be so difficult to add.

However, the 3x devices are all mobile phones and right now, on most websites, the 2x images are already way too big for those (they are usually 6x – 10x in comparison to those screens). So this feature is really not required right now from my point of view.

However, when they will come with 3x computer screens then I will have to add this feature. The images will be really huge though, the Internet is going to take a hit 😉

3x photos i can understand but icons/small images will still be blurry even if they are 2x.

What about an option that allows advanced users to define their own pixel ratios.
So as default only 2x is enabled but if the user want he can enter multiple custom pixel ratios in a textfield (or something to keep it simple).

For logos and icons I don’t recommend having them in the Media Library or managed by the retina plugin. It should be SVG, bigger PNG and the same images used on all devices. Alternatively, it could be managed by CSS media queries.

Thanks for your screenshot, that’s an idea 🙂 I am just waiting to see how everything is evolving but I think I might end-up with a 3x and 4x checkboxes that will cover everything 🙂
