401 – Issue With Loopback Requests
-
Hi there,
I have an issue on my WordPress site where some Cron actions don’t complete and in Site Health I have this message:
Your site could not complete a loopback request
Loopback requests are used to run scheduled events, and are also used by the built-in editors for themes and plugins to verify code stability.
The loopback request returned an unexpected http status code, 401, it was not possible to determine if this will prevent features from working as expected.
Our hosting provider has spent considerable time with me on a live support session and can’t see anything peculiar from the server side.
The site was originally installed one level up in a /wordpress/ directory before being moved via SSH up into root. Could this be the cause?
Are there logs or other options to find out more details of what exactly is causing the 401 error to help me pinpoint the problem?
Many thanks.
