Hello @dumel ,
Files in the dlm_uploads folder are protected by .htaccess and cannot be directly viewed. Please make sure you are not using the “Redirect to file” option for downloads using files in dlm_uploads folder.
Warm regards,
Teo

Surely I should be able to use whatever option I need, i.e. redirect or not, and in fact, I do want the redirct option. Most users use phones. Why would I expect someone trying to read a PDF on their phone to first download a PDF, then dig through their file directory to find the file before reading it?
Everyone using this plugin is not a developer and I don’t see the point of adding options that are only possible if you hack the htaccess. They should be available as soon as installation is done.
So are you saying if I want to redirect to a file, I should not upload files in the download monitor interface, but to upload them in the media section, and then select them in download monitor? If that is the case you should only show the redirect option if the file was uploaded through media.
@dumel – FWIW we’re working on a PDF embedder feature for DLM, where, instead of redirecting to the file you’ll be able to view the PDF directly on a phone/tablet/browser of your choice.
That feature seems more aligned with what you were expecting to get out of DLM.
Also, FWIW – While we do appreciate constructive feedback, your tone isn’t the right one for this conversation. Please remember that this is free software, delivered as is and we’re still adding new features, fixing bugs even in the free version of the plugin.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!
/Cristian.

You’re right, my apologies for my rude and ungrateful tone, and thank you for your feedback. I do appreciate your work and DLM.
@dumel – thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it!
If you’re interested, you can reach out to us via our contact form on our site and ask to be a BETA tester for this new feature we’re working on.
Cheers,
