I am getting a 403 when trying to access the login page.

I have removed one section at a time from the htaccess and isolated the problem to the login whitelist.

If I check the box “Enable IP Whitelisting” and enter my IP in the box, I get a 403 and then need to manually remove the whitelist section from the htaccess file in order to regain access to the login page. I’m sure my IP is correct.

If I uncheck “Enable IP Whitelisting”, I can log in fine, but I would like to use this feature.

Hi, do you also have one of the Brute Force feature enable like Rename Login Page?

When you add the IP address, do you then try to login from the same computer or laptop with the same IP address? Is your IP address dynamic or static?

Hi there, thanks for your reply.

Rename Login Page is not in use.

The only things in use within the Brute Force section are the Honeypot and the Captcha features. I tried turning these off, but I’m getting the same 403 behavior when the Login Whitelist is enabled.

    I have a static IP.

Just realized I didn’t reply to one of your questions: Yes I am logging in from the same computer where I am adding the IP.

Hi did you check the log files? Did you by any chance lock yourself out in the last 1 hour or so?

Yes, I locked myself out once right when I posted 16 hrs ago. It’s happened several times over several days, as I’ve tested various solutions.

The plugin log files are empty, even though I have Settings > Debug turned on. Also there is nothing in Dashboard > Locked IPs.

Do you have the following option enabled WP Security -> WP User -> Login Lockdown -> Time Length of Lockout (min):? If you do what it the length of the lockout set to?

That is very strange that your log file is empty? Did you also check the log files under Filesystem Security -> Host System Logs?
