Hello. Broken Link Checker was working great up until about two months ago but now is reporting 150 links as broken. The vast majority are “Unknown Errors”, but also tens of 403s, 405s, 406s. I’ve manually checked very many of these and the links were all fine. I checked with hosting and cURL is enabled both on the staging site and the live site. I also checked the live site (an exact copy of staging) and the results are the same.

Not sure what to do and hoping you can help. Thanks!

Here is the log for one such “unknown error” where the link is actually working:

Link last checked: May 16, 2025

    Redirect count: 0

      Hi @alusza

I hope you are doing well.

I tested the shared URL with the Local Engine and it worked well https://monosnap.com/file/4oTlkpdJitPWogdoiwz9tt4HCTs4sE, but note that the cURL is made from your server, if any those URLs blocked the server IP then it will return the non-200 status code.

However, I noticed “Could’t follow the redirect URL (if any) because safemode or open base dir enabled”

Could you confirm if open_basedir is enabled and if so disable it for a test to see if makes any difference for this link.

Alternatively you can test the Cloud Engine, I tested the link with Cloud Engine and got a valid link as well.

      Best Regards

Hi Patrick. Thanks for the quick response.

I’ll check open_basedir with hosting. I’ll test the cloud engine, though I’m pretty sure I already did with the same results.
